I have absolutely no clue where that came from, or what show you are referring too, so i'll make my comments purely on the band example you gave.

There is a fine line between expressing disappointment and bitching. If a band takes a new direction and you were a big fan, but not of their new style, you will obviously voice some disappointment, but can understand how this goes to far. Feel free to express yourself, but be real about it!

Oh, heard of Supernatural, on Channel 10? Wincest is basically fan fiction that takes the two main characters, brothers in the series, and makes them gay, or at least hint at homosexual tension.
