She had met the younger girl completely on accident; Andromeda never imagined that she would ever be able to put a name to a face. Andromeda never thought she would ever meet Lily Evans.
Bellatrix and occasionally Narcissa would rant about the ugly redheaded mudblood from Gryffindor. It amused Andromeda that the girl was quite pretty and Narcissa probably felt threaten by her. Bellatrix probably disliked her because of her blood or maybe she just didn’t like her, Bellatrix didn’t seem to need a reason for not liking someone.
The Lily seemed to be kind and a gentle sort from what Andromeda could gather from seeing the young Gryffindor around the school. She had a wide circle of friends and Andromeda could see why she was a favourite around the school.
Apparently she was also quite studious because more than once Andromeda had seen her around the library more than once. However, Andromeda never imagined that she would ever interact with Lily but life always seems to be full of surprises.
“Do you mind if I study here at your table?”
Andromeda glanced up at the Gryffindor and shrugged her shoulders. “It doesn’t bother me.”
Lily sighed in relief and saw down across from Andromeda. “Thanks all the other tables were pretty much filled up.”
“It certainly is the library most busiest time of the year,” Andromeda commented over her charm textbook.
Lily laughed. “That is true; the exams seem to lure people to the library to study.”
“It’s probably a good thing,” Andromeda said with a slight smile on her lips. “It might just be their saving grace so they don’t fail their classes.”
Lily nodded her head in agreement causing her red hair to shift back and forth. “You’re not at all like the other Slytherins.”
Andromeda shrugged. “I suppose not, Lily.”
“It’s nice to meet a different Slytherin,” Lily commented and blushed slightly. “You know my name but I have no idea what yours is.”
Andromeda smiled slightly. “I’m Andromeda Black.”
Lily eyes widen slightly at the last name. “Then you must be related to Sirius then?”
Andromeda nodded. “Yes were cousins.”
Lily nodded in understanding. “I met two other Blacks but they claimed that he was no relative of theirs.”
Andromeda looked amused at Lily’s statement. “That really doesn’t surprise me, us Blacks can deny anything that doesn’t please us.”
Lily looked slightly confused. “Why would you deny anything?”
Andromeda just smiled. “It’s the joys of being part of an old wizarding family, you could say it’s more of tradition than anything now.”
“Tradition?” Lily asked.
“Yes the wizarding families always have the weirdest traditions, especially if the family is really old and been around for a long time. You could say it’s a quirk of ours. That’s what I like about you muggle borns”
Lily stared as Andromeda got up from the table and started to pile her books together. “You like what about muggle borns?”
Andromeda smiled and looked over at Lily in fondly. “Compare to us from the old wizarding families you muggle borns are perfectly normal.”
