Foreword. I'm not going to sit and go on about how I've "moved on" and "lost some people in my life" like other pussies do. I'm more concerned with reality and the substantial world. I haven't talked to many people in a long time. Lost touch, if you will. I don't know what's going on with them and I'm fine with that. Meanwhile a whole new set of ( Read more... )

"I'm not going to sit and go on about how I've "moved on" and "lost some people in my life" like other pussies do."

But... you did. ;p

and i do think pot is bad, not medically but morally. there's no convincing me and you can scold me all you like. i don't care how "sober" i shouldn't be. my life is fine and i don't need a plant to make me feel better or different to escape whatever garbage is in my life.

Yea, why would YOU need a plant to do that? You have alcohol.

:oP Nikki

P.S.: Peter, I'm still banned from posting on your Livejournal. You should fix that.

"Certainly not - in and of itself it harms no-one. Even in real-world terms, its societal damage is considerably less than alcohol.

The ethical dimension of all illicit drugs, however, is horrible distorted and perverted by the sheer fact of their illegality. This fact alone means that all persons involved in the supply and use are ipso facto criminals; that the quality is uncontrolled, and the price very high.

The low quality can in some cases damage users directly far more than the substance itself.

The high prices fund other crime, and create destitute users, who may commit other crime to fund their use.

Experiments where a particular drug is decriminalised result in reduced crime of all kinds in the area, and social renormalisation among the users."

Maybe we should just stop judging people based on what substances they choose to consume. Honestly, it's not taking over anyone's lives, so what does it matter? It seems like a non-issue. Who cares. Abstract principles usually aren't worth fighting endlessly about.

Nikki does have a valid point though, I don't think you can argue that some substances are inherently "better" than others. Some are safer, yes, but honestly, you can't even say that without making some false generalizations. So you reject marijuana for alcohol. Artificial difference.
