Oh my god!!!! The beginning was so sad, it captured my heart and I couldn't stop reading. And the ending was just so spontaneous. Your fic is truly amazing, one of the best I've read. It's so good that I wish it could have been longer.. I need to know more about the time they spent in Terra by that tree ;(((( I really have no words to describe how much I liked it!!! Keep up the good work!

Oh, thank you so much! :) I really struggled with this fic because it was something I hadn't yet done in any fandom I've ever belonged to! I would've loved to keep writing in this 'verse as well, anon-friend! :) Just because I grew so attached, and I wish I had spent less time panicking over the deadline and the whole "whatever will I write"-phase and just developed the universe this is based in more!

This was so good. The story felt like it was set on No. 6 universe. I love how you incorporated the lullaby with the story. This was mostly Minhyuk centric and made it so much better since getting into Minhyuk's character is so hard, he's just a closed shell. I'm glad he ended up with Jaehyo and got away from cradle. I just wonder how he'll cope up with Jaehyo's death since Jaehyo is a natural.

Thank you so much! I've never actually seen No. 6, but I've heard many great things about it from friends :) I love Minhyuk to bits and pieces (/biased!!!), and I'm really happy I chose to write from his perspective. (Admittedly, I struggled a lot with this prompt and I originally was going to focus the universe around Jiho, but that was an incredibly different story and didn't feel right!!! So I scrapped the original idea and went with Minhyukie :) and thankfully it worked!!!)

Well, since Minhyuk has left, there is no one around to fix him when he breaks down or begins to age like any "machine" would. I'm sure he couldn't maintain his artificial body without Cradle, and I'm sure he doesn't mind that. Now he can actually die and be as "human" as he possibly can. And when Jaehyo passes, I'm sure Minhyuk would find it time for him to meet the same fate. Or, at least, that's my interpretation :) I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I'm so glad you chose to write Minhyuk then. As much as I love to read AU's of Zico because he is just a character with so many interesting possibilities to him, Minhyuk has less fics written about him and even lesser actual legit facts about his personality and it's just nice to read a piece that tries to grasp anything from him. Jaehyo is a bonus and my actual reason for reading the fic (Hyorange biased) was because of him, but you made it so that I didn't lose interest even with the evidently small part of my actual interest.

I think you're right. As much as Jaehyo can do he'd try to fix Minhyuk with knowledge outside of cradle but once he's gone Minhyuk would probably lose the will to live as well...or maybe Minhyuk would be the first one to pass and Jaehyo would be the one watching his beloved "machine" deteriorating because of the differences of the world outside of cradle. I'm just happy they're happy for the moment :)

Zico really does lend himself to so many different AUs and scenarios (whispers: I've always wanted to play around with the Zico-persona vs. the real Jiho-persona, but never found the time! or right inspiration/plot!), but I agree that he seems to have way more fic written about him than some of the other members (Minhyuk, Taeil, etc.). I think Minhyuk is just someone so hard to really grasp - I've been around the fandom for a while, and back in the 2011 days, there wasn't a whole lot to go on since he was so ~serious and ~mysterious, lol

seriously you've done so many amazing things with this fic. i love the world you've created and the atmosphere that fills it: everything feels so bleak but you can find small traces of hope in the most unsuspecting places (jaehyo n__n). the mood just captures everything i love about dystopias, which i love a lot btw. esp of the ya novel variety cry. i guess there is just something about the idea of making your own fate, however futile your attempt, even when the whole world is against you that just kind of tugs at my heart. ;_;

i also love your minhyuk and how the story is told through his perspective. i think you've done a really great job at capturing his innocence. BASICALLY I CAN'T STOP GUSHING AT YOU ;_;

it was so hard at first because aah worldbuilding is not a strong suit and i just really ????? for a very long time (((and my earlier fics for this exchange involved flaily!jaehyo and superpowered!jiho and it was so dumb omggg))) i love dytopias so much it hurts and i'm so glad you think i did well with this because what a hard topic to write about in a way that hasn't been done before??? sobs. ya novels give me life, idc what other people say ;___;
