So, according to the new interview up on Mugglenet, Aurthor Weasley was the one who got the reprieve, and that was all the way back in book five

Well... that Remus may have been more of a "last-minute" death than a planned one makes me feel a great deal worse about it. x_x But then, I don't feel that any truly important event such as death should be "last-minute." Granted, I can see the view of wanting to have the full party at Harry's death-march, but it still leaves a foul taste for me

I've heard the rumor too, and that it stemmed from her saying she didn't like slash in general, but that that had the conotation of her thinking all slash=porn.
If it is true, ugh, then she's really messed up. But I don't think it is, I think she's too good of a writer to throw something in just for spite.
Although, I do remember hearing a rumor around when HBP first came out that the reason Rowling paired Remus and Tonks was to discourage the ones who supported the Remus/Sirius pairing. I have a lot of trouble believing that -- though if it was the case, that would have been a pretty rotten thing to do.
I don't believe that for a second. JKR probably came up with the idea of pairing Lupin with Tonks, or the idea to make him a father at the very least, before the first fangirl ever thought that Lupin/Sirius would make a nice couple. Besides the H/Hr, I don't think JKR pays too much mind to fanon ships.
On the topic of Tonks possibly being created to serve as Remus' love interest, if that was the case, I would think there'd be more chemistry between them in OotP.
I don't know about that. I won't go into any hints that JKR may, or may not, have left, but people must have picked up on it, the ship was an instant success. Not to mention R/S shippers visceral response to R/T. IMO, of course.
