Marauder Big Bang Recs
I've read three out of the four posted fics and they are wonderful!
brighty18 wrote a Remus/Sirius pairing in Wicked: The Life and Times of a Very Unfortunate Sirius Black. I haven't read/seen Wicked, but it wasn't a problem. This was an hilarious ride with blonde, singing James, princely Remus, and a very confused Sirius. There were moments that were heart-wrenching, and moments I had to wipe tears from my eyes because I'd been giggling so much. Fantastic!
starstruck1986 wrote Substitute. This is a Remus/Severus pairing, but with flashbacks to Remus/Sirius, and Severus/Lily (unrequited). It's a beautifully sad look at how two lonely men come together to try and get what they need from each other. The tangle of emotions they feel as they lay in bed together, both remembering the events that brought them to that point, is palpable on the page, and I was fighting tears more than once. Wonderful!
I've not read this one at the comm yet, but I have been waiting to rec it since the idea was first run past me and I read it several times while I was betaing it. Anything written by
dogsunderfoot is always guaranteed to be a fantastic read, but this is one of my favourites. The Full Value of Joy is a non-magic AU in which Sirius is an editor and Remus a reclusive author. Remus has suffered the loss of his wife and child, and disappears from his friend's life as he deals with his guilt over the circumstances of the accident. But his whereabouts are discovered (and the Weasley family is used brilliantly here) and Sirius goes after him to bring him home. The sexual tension between the two is a slow burn that will threaten to set you on fire, and the gradual rebuilding of their friendship is done thoughtfully and respectfully. It is just such a wonderful story with fantastic imagery and a beautifully developed relationship. Oh, and see if you can guess who Sirius' bosses were based on! ;)
There is one more fic at the comm which I regretfully haven't read yet, Short of a Dark Lord which looks like great fun, and I will get to as soon as I can.
I should also mention the art for each of the fics is just so beautiful. The artists did a wonderful job choosing which scenes to bring to life. :)
