"It's Just A TV Programme"

May 26, 2012 09:08

My response to yet another 'get over it, it's tv' comment in meta post about Glee's finale. Not liking the episode isn't just about wanting Klaine kisses or hating Finchel and I'm so tired of seeing that shrug of dismissal in comments. I'm not going to be an asshole on someone else's journal, so I'm taking out my frustration here.

Seriously? )

ranty mcranty pants, listen to meeee!, fandom

I am not over being outraged at Kurt's rejection. Really, I'm not. I hated that!

*hugs* From one Joss fan to another who is STILL mourning the loss of Joyce (and Tara, Fred, Wes, Cordy, Anya, Wash... The list is long)

I was a complete wreck on Wednesday night after watching the season 3 finale.

I actually like Rachel. She is a character I can relate to. I was a combination of her and Kurt in High School (minus the cute boyfriend/fiance/two gay dads). I was all psyched up and pumped to get into the Uni I wanted, and was bought back to earth with an earth-shattering jolt when I didn't get in.

I am beyond angry that Kurt didn't get in to NYADA, yet Rachel did, but I can't help but think it was more her determination that got her in, not her talent. On the other hand, I was totally expecting Finn to not get into Actor's Studio. He has no pre-reqs for it.

As for being told, "It's just a tv show." I like to respond with: "It's just fuck off.." People who are so dismissive, in my opinion, have no real connection with anyone outside themselves.

For some of us, it's NOT just a TV show (whichever TV show it happens to be, for me still TW), it's an escape, some place we can forget for a while about how much our lives suck and share in the lives of people, however fictitious, that we feel a connection to. No one has any right to belittle how you feel when your emotions are as genuine as they would be if the TV characters WERE real people. I'm still reeling from Ianto's death, and because of that, I watch very little TV these days. Ianto's death (and the disrespect shown by RTD in the aftermath) have robbed me of one of my precious escapes ( ... )
