What is going on over there, America? Ridiculous internet censorship legislation, Romney, reproductive health debates? Did time reverse itself in the Northern Hemisphere?
As much as I dislike being Canadian sometimes, you couldn't pay me to live in the US. Nice to visit and all that...Romney is too stupid to live. Problem is, money speaks louder than anything else, and the Republicans have buckets of it. Old, rich, white men working for the interest of other old, rich, white men, to hell with everyone else.
If I could, I totally would move to Oz. Hey, us Commonwealth countries need to stick together!
You hit on the thing that most irritates me about American politics in particular and that is how religion is at the core of much of the conflict. Religious beliefs have no place in politics. We have an asshole running our Liberal/National Coalition (our version of Republicans) who tries the same thing but he's usually shouted down, thank goodness. I don't think we have such a high concentration of Christians here and I do think that, for the most part, they are less militant

Ok sorry, I got really into replying to this and wrote a long answer. It was too big so I had to split it into two comments. Sorry :( But your posts tend to point out the things that drive me the most nuts about our politics too so I have a lot to say on the subjects XD
Religious beliefs have no place in politics. Yep. Yet somehow it's become basically a prerequisite to BE Christian. I was watching The Daily Show and was further horrified by some things I saw there. Like

Finally, and this I think is one of the BIGGEST issues-- the people who support Romney probably largely watch Fox News. They think they're getting fair and balanced news because that's what the channel says. They don't realize how incredibly biased and extremist many of the "facts" are. They don't see the Jon Stewart videos mocking all the inconsistencies. They get this us vs them mentality and they have an entirely different view of the world than, I think, matches reality

There are no words for how certifiable the US is right now. I will be so glad when all of this is over. And if Romney wins, I don't know what I'm going to do.
On a happier note, where did you get your mood theme?

I kind of think of Canada as the more grown up version of Australia (but without the brain melting heat). :D
