Summary: one rainy day at Apareo Necro, a deathan ponders deeply.

---

The deer looked at her intently, then it resumed munching on the small shrub. It didn’t mind her presence being so close.

She stepped closer, tying not to startle the animal. Her hand was extended to allow the animal to sniff it. She really didn’t want to harm the calm animal, just to get nearer enough to pet it on its small head. As the deer sniffed on the small hand, it dismissed the interest then walked away, looking for more shrubs. It found another one beside a large rock, so it went over and started grazing once more. She crept cautiously to the flat rock and sat on it, running her hands over the smooth coat of the deer.

It finally accepted her presence, as it sat down and continued to gnaw on a branch of fresh leaves.

Rarely was she able to enjoy this; the small company of animals. She possessed a trait that allowed her to befriends animals, beast or otherwise. In turn, this made the animals accept her and not be afraid of her.

Even if she considered it a very special gift that must be used wisely, other people take advantage if it, making her do things against her will.

Her face was set. A hand reached for the hilt of a small dagger stuck in her boot. In a swift strike, the deer fell to its side, its blood pooling from the stab it received. Her face remained unchanged, even if the fallen animal’s blood sprayed her. The warmness of the dark liquid covered her hand, as it withdrew the dagger. She stood up, thick blood dripping to the ground. She shook the dagger to rid it from the stain, then proceeded to stick it back in her boot. She breathed in, inhaling the strong iron stench that surrounded her.  Finally, she mustered enough strength to pull the dead weight of the deer back to the encampment.

--

Some of the men by the entrance noticed her as she stopped a few meters from them then left the deer, walking towards them. They immediately saluted her.

Her emotionless orbs looked at them skeptically, then waved a dismissing hand “bring in the deer and do with it as you wish. I don’t care…” she walked away as she heard them rush to the animal and cheers erupted. They were going to have deer for dinner! It was a big change compared to the boiled weed soup and dry bread they always had.

She set forth for her tent. When she passed by a small clearing near the smith, she heard someone call her “Princess Kirau!”

Jogging was what she heard from the side, before she turned to see her bodyguard .“Orel” she acknowledged in a dull voice. She took a look at him, then raised an eyebrow.

The electric mage fumbled with his words “um…” he reached behind him “here’s your quiver. The smith was unavailable, so I sharpened them myself…” he held out a case of newly sharpened black arrows. She promptly took out one then felt the tip with a finger.

“please be careful! They’re very sharp!” Orel nervously said

“don’t you think I know that?” she snapped. Orel bit back his tongue as she pressed her finger momentarily on the tip. She put back the arrow in the quiver as her blood oozed out of the small pierce. “it’s not that sharp enough for me, Orel”

The guard looked defeated; he had failed once more and disappointed her yet again. “I’m very sorry, Princess…” he dipped his head in sincere apology.

She huffed a bit, then grabbed the quiver from Orel’s hands. She wore it then bended down, reaching for the bloodstained dagger with its leather sheath. “here…you can clean this for me instead…” she handed it to him, as he accepted it quietly.

That was when he took notice of her blood covered hand. The dried up blood cracked slightly as she moved her fingers. “Princess…” he spoke

She took back her hand as she adjusted her quiver “what is it?”

“you’ve gone hunting?” he inquired

Kirau didn’t exactly want to talk to anyone, but Orel was one of the people she spoke to in normal terms. The other deathans were forbidden to talk to her and she despised talking to her older brother. Above her, dark clouds rumbled lowly, warning them of an approaching downpour. “Yes…I just came from a hunt. Brother asked me to kill a deer for the other warriors, so I did…”

“okay…” Orel, not finding any more words to say, then sighed a little before “well…I’m sure you’re exhausted. Please get some rest already. I’ll ask some servants to prepare you a bath in your tent…”

The Royal Princess nodded her head, then muttered her thanks. She turned around to the direction of her tent then started for it.

Gray eyes followed her small figure until she turned right around the weapon’s storage. He gazed at the dagger and ran a thumb over the seal of the Royal Family etched on one side of the blade. Blood clung to his thumb since it was still fresh.

He grimaced at the sight. Even though he was a deathan, and still continued to live a deathan’s life, he never got used to the sight of blood. It churned his insides that at some occasions, he felt nauseated. It took him a lot of time and self-control to get used to the bloodshed that was often caused by the people of his own blood.

His attention went back to the weapon in his hand. He grasped the hilt tightly and looked at the place where the younger Necro disappeared.

‘why does Prince Eldel continue to ask the Princess to do the hunting? Is he even aware of the hurt he causes her whenever she succeeds?’ his eyes veiled deep sadness within ‘I feel the hurt of the Princess…killing off animals she considers great friends’ he remembered the time he saw her in a small thicket, gazing at a squirrel running about in front of her. A smile grazed her lips during that time. Nowadays, Orel wondered why that same smile didn’t seem to surface from her.

He fixed the high collar of his elite guard uniform as a gentle pitter-patter of rain fell down, then set off to look for a few servants. He placed the Princess’ dagger inside his coat pocket and walked towards the servant’s tent.

---

‘I’ve always been his pawn, in his little game of world domination…’

She sat by the opening of her tent, the wind rushing in as it ruffled her blue hair.

‘…always following him around…’

Rain water soaked her front a little, moistening her skin with the cold precipitation.

‘and accepting all the injected traits of his’

Blood dripped down from her hands, forming a puddle by her feet.

Kirau looked out of her tent, as a bolt of lightning cut through the night sky. She held one of her arrows in one hand; its tip glimmering with blood, her blood.

‘I feel nothing…’

She pierced the arrow through her right hand. She closed her eyes to absorb the trickling sting.

‘pain does not affect me…nor does the pain of others…’

The arrow stayed there for a moment’s time, before it was forcibly pulled out.

A clap of thunder was heard, as her low howls of pain blended and was deafened by the steady beat of the rain.

‘blood has contaminated and messed up my life, and he rejoices on his triumph over me’

Summary: what do you do when you watch a movie?

---

Silence enveloped the entire room.

The children of the prophecy were all there, but minus the usual chaos when they were stuck in one room.

(which was very, very rare indeed)

The movie they were now watching was entitled “300”. It was a historical film that Sora borrowed from the rental shop.

No one really wanted to watch it except the one who borrowed it, yet they were drawn to the movie after seeing the preview. Most especially Astral.

And so, they huddled by the living room with the 40 inch LCD TV that Psi just bought.

They all marveled at the wonderful color quality, and an interesting movie to put it to the test.

The movie rolled on, as it reached the part when a group of Persians entered the Spartan city and was now being threatened by the King. Words were being exchanged between the both of them.

Then…

“THIS…IS…SPARTA!!!”

Everyone turned around, to see a certain fir-haired teen, munching on some popcorn as he shouted the words the actor was shouting also.

Most of them didn’t mind him, yet Sora had a heart.

“you watched this already?”

“yeah…a really good one. Great choice, buddy…” Pyro smiled

The movie continued. Astral often commented on their fighting styles, saying that he was familiar with the other moves too. Vesper and Jyno were engrossed with the Spartan men, with their abs and muscular bodies being flashed and zoomed in on. Solae giggled at the scenes of King Leonidas with his wife, saying that they were the perfect couple.

“OOH!” they heard Pyro exclaim behind them “this is a really nice part!”  then he suddenly mimicked the voice of Leonidas, the one who was currently talking.

It would be okay, if he was repeating what he was hearing, but it was a different story if he went ahead.

“GIVE THEM NOTHING…BUT TAKE FROM THEM…EVERYTHING!!!”

That sealed it all off.

Aera suddenly stood up. “okay, a show of hands here…” she got the remote controller and pressed on “PAUSE”. She looked at them “who votes that we shut carrothead’s mouth?”

A considerable amount raised their hands. “decision has been done. Anyone got any tape?”

“here” Jyno tossed a roll of Duct tape from the drawer behind him. Pyro looked at all of them completely terrified. “um…” he said as they slowly cornered him and loomed over him.

He was not able to finish his sentence, as tape went around his head and completely covered his mouth.

Now, they can watch the movie in peace.

“remind me not to tell Pyro we’re watching a movie next time…” Sora muttered
