GEEEZ That's stupid! I know how you feel, I got a ticket for 73 in a 65 on my local highway, where everyone goes 80.
I don't know about Mass but in NY there's a 5mph up or down leeway to the limit. As in if you're going 70 on a 65 they can't legally write you a ticket. Though if you hit 71 they can, but don't because there's a certain limit up or down for the speed guns as well :P That I don't know what it is, I heard 15mph but that seems quite a lot.
I didn't know about that rule in NY. In MA there is no such rule. 1mph over, you can still get a ticket, and for the first 5 miles over the limit it's the same price, (I can't remember what the price was, but I think $75). 3 Speeding tickets in one year you get your license suspended. Also after the first ticket in one year it hurts your insurance rate, but the first ticket causes you to miss your "bonus point" on your insurance for that year.
That sucks lol Still fight it by saying that the radar could have been miscalibrated. They're legally (In NY...) supposed to calibrate them every morning.
Can't fight a written warning, as I didn't get a ticket this time. No bigie. It's just sad when they stop me instead of the many other reckless drivers.
