i read the article and i don't think she has a leg to stand on. the majority of the similairities between the screenplay and her book are also similarities between the screenplay and MY pregnancy, and i would surmise between the screenplay and any accidental pregnancy. but she got knocked up at her ENGAGEMENT party, not a one night stand. the one night stand and the fact that she had no intention of ever seeing this guy again is very central to the plot. hell, it's the tagline
( ... )
yeah i looked into it more after i posted the article and i agree with you. the only remotely valid point she has is the similarity between the book cover and the screenplay cover but no one else even sees that. also, when i was looking for a photo of the alleged screenplay cover i found another woman discussing the similarity of both covers to her logo. http://www.suburbanbliss.net/suburbanbliss/
and yeah, the entire point of the movie is not an unexpected pregnancy, it's an unexpected pregnancy resulting from a one-night stand.
i sent a letter to the editor at macleans.ca. i hope that they get lots of them. hint hint. it is frankly pathetic that this woman was able to publish this "article" anywhere.
