I think the end of the Harry Potter books are a) relatively easier to deal with and comprehend when compared to the nation wide screw over of the average American. b) an ending. An ending that is supposed to wrap up all the issues and give us a warm fuzzy feeling.
Since the book will probably deliver a) and b), I'll be content with caring about what happens to Harry. What is a bit more scary is that there are people only concerned with what happens to Harry. They may be ambivalent or apathetic to everything else going on. Those people worry me.
You know what, Michael? I, like the rest of the world, make digs at you Americans, most of the time deservedly so, and it makes us feel all big and clever and superior and then you go do something like this and ruin all our arguments.
Some people are worried about Harry Potter being spoiled. Other people like to make vagguely provacative statements for the sake of making vaguely provactive statements. Your implied argument is based on the logic that one is either in a magic bubble or joylessly facing the troubles of the day. An odd point to make for someone so involved in improv comedy, which, like all arts, can offer insight into the human condition and simultaneously entertain without denying that there are larger things at stake in this world. Jus' sayin'.
