Serena did just that, putting the last box down near some of the others, biting her lip and grinning. She'd been on her own in hotel suites all over the world, but that had always just been temporary and she couldn't quite imagine actually having a place of her own at their age. That Beat now did was kind of exciting. It didn't hurt it meant he was finally out of the basement either.
Heading over to him, she slipped her arms around his neck. "You just have to figure out where everything'll go," she said lightly. "But now you officially have a place all your own."
Beat hadn't thought 'bout it that way until just then. It wasn't a bad feelin' at all, knowin' he owned the place. An' sure, it wasn't the most impressive place ever, but that ain't mattered in the least.
"I thank you yet for helpin' me bring all this junk over?" he asked, his hands at her waist as he grinned at her. "Ain't sure I woulda got it done so fast without you."
"Well, it was my pleasure," Serena said, sweet and coy all at once. An arm still hooked over his shoulder, she brought her other hand to play idly with his shirt. "And besides, it wasn't entirely an unselfish act on my part. I do have something of a vested interest in getting you out on your own, you know."
The previous night had been strange and bewildering and painful, but today, her feet were back on solid ground, as if nothing had happened at all. For now, at least, she wanted to keep it that way.
He'd be lyin' if that wasn't one of the reasons why he got the place. Havin' a place to himself meant they didn't need to worry 'bout random people givin' them the eye for just hangin' out.
"Oh yeah?" he asked, smirkin' slowly. "An' what interest is that?"
