If DI Swanson hadn't given him the requisite polite phone call prior to her information dump on the dusty fax line, Jack wouldn't have noticed the sheets of paper on the tray (or the ones that had spilled over onto the floor) for at least several days. As such, he's standing in the back room of the Tourist Information Center - Ianto's incredibly neat domain - not particularly rifling through some of the more compelling reads of the paperwork on his lover's desk there while the fax comes in. Once all of the reports are in - and he faxes back over a cheekily worded thank you note with a reminder that Torchwood is a digital organization and the Cardiff PD is well behind the times (complete with one of those 'going native' smiley faces) - and Jack is settled at Ianto's desk, his mug of coffee carefully placed away from anything important, he takes a highlighter and red pen (are there a shortage of these?) to the reports, one by one, looking for anything particularly worthy of Torchwood's attention. Uncomplainingly as always, Ianto keeps on comm with Jack, providing the requested local knowledge while he digs through the Archives for requested information. He checks under 'St-Su' for 'Stolen: Corpses,' 'Th-Ti' for 'Theft: Corpses,' and 'Co-Cr' for, well ... 'Corpse.' There are any number of categories to cross-reference, but he only finds a few files of any consequence in the time provided ( ... )
