a/n-For all of those who have read my 5 part Challenge series, this is actually a companion piece to it. You may want to read it if you haven't, because, while I tried to make it stand alone and easily understandable, I can't promise that it will be...
"Hyung?"
The odd hesitance in Kyuhyun's voice halted Eunhyuk in his gameplay. Pausing the game that he was losing anyway, he gave the boy in the doorway his undivided attention.
"What's up, Kyu?"
He entered the living room and sat on the couch next to Eunhyuk. "Have you noticed that Sungmin's been acting weird lately?"
The elder looked at his dongsaeng before sighing, shutting off the game. Sungmin's erratic behavior had been worrying Eunhyuk for some time. He had begun distancing himself from the rest of the members, choosing instead to isolate himself in his room, away from everyone.
"Yeah," he admitted somberly. "I noticed."
"I just don't understand, Hyukkie. I mean, he's acting a lot like you did after...." The rest of the sentence remained unsaid.
Two months had passed since the attack, and while things had mostly returned to normal, reminders were as clear as day. They still needed permission to touch the dancer, and Yesung was unable to completely rid himself of the guilt that continued to plague him. Other than the two that were so obviously affected, things had changed for the others, as well. Kangin, for example, had, during the course of the past 2 months, become Eunhyuk's confidant when things became too much for the young man to bear. There was a newfound bond formed between the two, and they would often be found in Kangin and Leeteuk's room either talking, or simply sitting in silence.
"What should I do?" Kyuhyun's voice drew Eunhyuk from his thoughts.
"Don't do anything."
"But-" the magnae began, only to be cut off by the dancer.
"Let me talk to him. I think I know what's going on."

Sungmin was simply laying down when there was a knock on the door. "Who is it?"
"It's me, Sungminnie. Can I come in?" Eunhyuk asked through the door.
"Um, sure," he replied, sitting up as the door slowly opened, revealing the smiling face of his dongsaeng. Closing the door behind him, Eunhyuk walked over to the bed and sat down next to the older singer. "So, is there anything you needed, Hyukkie?"
"Nothing really. We've just been really worried about you lately. Kyuhyun came to me, which is partly why I'm here."
"Partly?" He received a nod in reply, but no verbal answer.
The two sat in silence until Sungmin spoke up.
"How do you do it?"
The rapper tilted his head in confusion. "Do what?"
"After what happened. How can you still believe in people?"
His eyes grew in realization, but softened at the honest question. "It wasn't easy at first. I was a mess. I mean, I wouldn't let you guys near me, and I trust you with my life. He paused. "I was terrified of Donghae, you know."
Sungmin's eyes widened. He hadn't known that. "Really?! Why?!"
"We'd been talking about taking things to the next level. After everything, I was scared he'd force me. To me, if it happened once, it would happen again, especially knowing that he wanted me like that."
"So what happened?"
"I went to Kangin and told him that I thought Hae and me should break up."
"Seriously?! What'd he do?"
"He talked me through it. Let me get everything out." He chuckled, bringing his long legs up onto the bed and to his chest. "Turns out that he'd told Hae to listen at the door when he'd gone to get tissues."
Sungmin frowned a bit at the action, but ignored it. "So Donghae had heard it all then?" The elder singer was deeply engrossed in the dancer's story.
"Every word. He talked some sense into me and apparently it worked, cuz we're still together," he smiled softly in remembrance of his boyfriend's words. Shifting a hair closer to his hyung, Eunhyuk slowly draped an arm around Sungmin's shoulders in a one-armed hug.
"How'd you get through all of that?" Sungmin wondered, leaning into the embrace.
"I haven't. Not even close, Minnie...I still have nightmares, and there are days when I just can't be touched without hyperventilating." He sighed, withdrawing his arm and wrapping them around his legs, resting his chin upon them. "I can't deal with crowds at all...there's just too many people. I miss performing, but I just can't handle it yet."
"We miss having you on stage, too."
"...You asked me how I can still have any kind of belief in people, right?" Sungmin nodded. "It's because of all of you."
He leaned back in shock. "Us?"
"Yeah, you."
"But how? We couldn't do anything!"
"Exactly." He chuckled at his hyung's lost expression. "You didn't make me get over it. You didn't treat me any different. You've all been here whenever I need you."
"But you aren't any different."
"I'm not very open anymore. I'm more suspicious; less tactile."
"You're still you, though."
"Because of you guys." He turned to look at the older singer. "Listen...you can't live in fear because of what happened to me, Minnie. Not everyone is out to hurt you."
"But how can you be so sure?"
"I can't, but he was only one man. I know that you'd never let anyone hurt me again, just like I'd never let anyone hurt any of you. Just knowing that there are people like you and the others makes me want to trust in people."
Sungmin was about to comment when he noticed fine, barely noticeable tremors run through the boy beside him. "Hyuk, are you okay?! You're shaking!"
"I'm okay. I just...I'm still not really okay with talking about it yet, I guess."
"Then why'd you talk about it then?"
He smiled softly. "Because you needed to hear it." There was a pregnant pause before Eunhyuk spoke, once again calm. "So, wanna watch a movie?"
"What kind?" Sungmin asked, getting to his feet, followed by Eunhyuk. "Hannie's?"
"Nah," Eunhyuk replied, walking to the door. "Not really in a slasher mood."
"Heechul's?" He received a raised eyebrow. "Yeah. Forget I asked." With that, the pair left the room, closing the door behind them.
