when something occurs at a pretty much daily basis - say suicide, for example - people get accustomed to it and pretty much just brush it off. in japan + suicide's case, people are no longer bothered about "why they do it", more like "why did they do it HERE" (if it's you know, jumping off the train platform onto the tracks causing trains to stop running for the next couple of hours when there are like, thousands commuting at that particular time).
it's sad to realize that people have become so...jaded about things that matter. i'm glad your friend isn't one of them and i hope you don't become one as well.
I've always believe even If you lost hope/no meaning in life/god does not exist/everything is gone or what not, no matter what happens, suicide is just not it.
It is never an escape, it is never the right option. Even if the person have the right to choose, fine, but I will always hate the people who are subdued to weakness and choose this path. Even if any1 try debating this with me, I will always still feel this way.
There are many things the world can offer. Even if their down at the worst of the dumps, why can't people just look around them for once. :(
