Appearance
Chloe is different in the sense that she's a transfer student. Hailing from Germany, she falls into the stereotype of "Blonde hair, blue eyes." Her hair is so platinum blonde it almost appears silver or white sometimes. She wears her hair at shoulder length and has bangs that fall to the right and cover one eye. Her features are somewhat sharp and angular, giving her a stronger appearance than what is usual for a female. Chloe acquired her height from her father’s side of the family and, even at the age of 15, stands at an impressive 5'11". While tall, she does not appear lanky. She is thin, but wiry, and overall healthy looking. Her eyes are a light and piercing blue that seem to creep people out at times.

Chloe dislikes girl clothes in general as she sees them as far too open and limiting. At school she wears the long skirt, but wears plain knickerbockers concealed beneath it, tucked into shin high leather riding boots.; as soon as school is let out, off comes the skirt. Even her casual wear is boyish, and not so casual in nature. She wears black flat-front pants with a white, button-up, 2-button collared shirt, tucked in, and sometimes suspenders. On her head she wears a typical black newsboy cap. Because of her part time job at a formal cafe, she wears a suit to work. In winter, she dons a long black coat with leather gloves and shin high leather boots.

Personality
Chloe is an awkward sort of person, and her personality can be described in two ways: What the rumours say, and what she is in actuality.

According to the rumours, Chloe is a callous girl who could care less about anyone but herself. She is not willing to talk to anyone, sticks to herself, and is generally very selfish. She does not participate in class discussions, and when it comes to group projects, she speaks minimally. This is taken by some as aloof laziness with a lack of morals. Whenever someone does speak to her, she responds in short and blunt sentences, sometimes even just a single word. If she can help it, she avoids eye contact, and can often be found gazing out the window during class time. Overall, rumours state that Chloe is someone that you should stay away from if you know what's good for you.

However, if one actually got to know Chloe, they'd find something different. While she really does stick to herself and speaks bluntly, it's not for the reasons most people assume. Chloe doesn't get to know people because she's certain they're better off without her. She responds in short sentences because she wants to get conversations over with as soon as possible. Eye contact is something she stays away from because eyes are rumoured to be the "windows into one's soul" and most of the time she can't bring herself to challenge that. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but her sheer amount of common sense more than makes up for this. She hides many things about herself for fear of people finding out about them. Despite this, Chloe is very stubborn; once she starts something, she follows through with it. Something that would surprise someone is Chloe's level of understanding and compassion. Though she may not act on it, she feels for people and she can understand them quite well. All this is kept inside so no one really sees this side of Chloe.

If you manage to somehow break through the barriers Chloe has set up around herself, you'd be pleasantly surprised. Chloe is loyal to a fault. Ever wonder what it would feel like to have a large guard dog? Befriend Chloe, and you'll find out; if you've managed to worm your way into her heart, she will defend you to the death. While not your typical teenage female friend who is touchy-feely and open, Chloe prefers to watch over her friends with steadfast determination and help them out no matter what trouble they find themselves in. She's more likely to watch from a distance with a gentle smile than actually participate in such things as shopping.

If a friend is in trouble, Chloe spends no time dawdling. Sick? She'll nurse you back to health. Injured? She'll carry you to the hospital, no matter how far away it is. About to be utterly crushed by a devastating and fatal attack? She'll push you out of the way and take the hit for you. Her self-sacrificing nature is often liable to upset those she is seeking to help, but they'd be hard pressed in getting her to stop; if you're her friend, you're worth protecting at any cost. People have described Chloe as gentlemanly, even though she is clearly female. She's been known to hold doors, pull out chairs for people, and give her coat to another while it's raining cats and dogs. This contradicts her socially awkward nature, but the truth is she dislikes seeing anyone suffering. If she sees someone in trouble, even if she doesn't know them, she's inclined to help. Could you walk away from someone who needs help right in front of you? Chloe finds that she cannot.

Should you manage to break the trust Chloe has placed in you, whether you realize it or not, you've got a problem. Chloe does not take treachery and betrayal well. While understanding, if her trust has been shattered, it wounds her deeply. Anyone who breaks that trust will have to work overtime at double speed in order to prove to Chloe that they really are worth it to be called a friend.

No one has really truly seen Chloe angry or miserable. Everyone generally sees her as "that quiet foreign girl". No one could suspect that beneath the surface, under that thick layer of patience and understanding, lays the temper of a rabid beast. It's once in a blue moon that she shows that side of herself, if at all. This inner fury and hatred is part of the reason why Chloe despises herself.

There are many misconceptions about Chloe, but one would never know unless they got to know her. The rumours about her tend to scare people away from her, so in the end, Chloe is a lonely girl. She tells herself that she likes it this way, and that it is best for everyone this way... but she's used to lying to herself by now.

Positive Characteristics

History

Animosity between the countries of the world were on the rise since the Great War. Germany was constantly in a struggle, especially with Britain, to develop their Naval forces, even before the Great War. This tension between the two nations had spread to the rest of Europe, and once the trigger hit and war broke out, Germany found itself in dismal wartime. Korbinian was a mere lad of 19 then, proud of his nation, and jumped to help with the war effort. He began his career as a soldier, fighting his way through campaign after campaign. He picked up a lot of his knowledge about firearms from personal experience. As a clever and resourceful boy, he survived through to the end of the war to experience the feeling of crushing defeat. He returned to his country then, ashamed and bitter. A man of 23 now, everything he knew had now changed. With the Treaty of Versailles, there were limits on weaponry, limits on their military, and territorial changes among other things. All Korbinian knew was a the life of a soldier.... and so he continued as one, legal or not. It was the only way he could make a living in his war-torn country.

Korbinian became a contact involved in an underground German crime syndicate, resentful and bitter about not only their loss, but the limitations placed upon them. While not terribly deeply involved with the goings on of the syndicate, he was an arms trafficker; he was mostly in it for the money. He had a knack for weapons of all kinds due to his military service and beforehand…. pistols and revolvers, military surplus rifles, target rifles, hunting and sporting arms, varmint rifles, shotguns, centrefire rifles, rimfire rifles, antique and black powder rifles…. If it went boom, he could supply it. Also skilled in reloading ammunition, he had bits and parts of almost all weaponry available as well. Didn’t like the sights on your assault rifle? No problem. Optics giving you a hard time? Easy. Silencers? No biggie. Trigger guards, barrels, slides… he had them all. He knew his way around a firearm, and the syndicate knew it. Whenever they needed a weapon, legal or not, he was the man they went to.

Korbinian eventually met the woman of his dreams, an equally resourceful and intelligent woman named Agatha. They courted each other for quite a while before deciding they were the ones for each other. Agatha and Korbinian Abendroth gave birth to a beautiful baby girl after getting married. She was their first child and first daughter, and they named her Chloe. They weren’t sure if they wanted another child, especially considering their circumstances… but they knew that they had Chloe, and at that moment, that was all that mattered

Once Chloe was born, however, Korbinian knew how dangerous his trafficking could be to his family; Agatha's kindness and warmth had opened his eyes to what it meant to live a life not consumed by bitterness and revenge. While a contact of a crime syndicate, he was a family man. He began to traffic less and less arms, and when asked about it, he claimed that a lot of his sources were “drying up”. In actuality, he was trying to distance himself from the syndicate for his family’s sake. Regardless, he taught his wife and daughter to shoot multiple kinds of weapons. While Agatha excelled in revolvers, Chloe favoured modern pistols and long rifles, be they semi-automatic or bolt action. For a time, everything seemed to be going well; Korbinian was trafficking less and less, and the syndicate was none the wiser… Chloe was growing up to be quite a marksman, and he couldn’t have been prouder. That all changed (when the Fire Nation attacked *SHOT*) when Chloe turned 13.

Growing up, Chloe was a sweet child. She was trusting and sometimes naive, always wanting to please others. She got along with other children; she would share her snacks, play fairly, and would help the other kids if they needed help. In general, people liked Chloe, and Chloe liked people. Because of this, she was exposed to a lot of different people. When she was 13, Chloe met a boy named Aldrick, who was 14. They became friends and would spend almost every day together. In class they were always paired up for group assignments, and out of class they were always together. Chloe trusted him as if he was a brother, and for the most part, it seemed like he trusted her as a sister. They shared nearly everything, from snacks, to money, to secrets. Chloe mentioned that her father had taught her to shoot, and Aldrick was interested in this. Once, Chloe took him out of town and taught him how to fire a pistol. He loved the experience, and Chloe was happy that she could be of help. She trusted Aldrick more than anyone outside of her own family… and since he had liked shooting the pistol, she thought that she would show him the stock of firearms her father kept. Chloe had no idea that her father was part of the syndicate, and thought that he was completely just in his ownership of such items. When both her mother and father were out, she invited Aldrick into her home. She showed him the large amount of firearms her father possessed, and even showed him how to take apart and clean some of them. He was elated, and Chloe was overjoyed that she had found another her age that shared her interest in firearms. Aldrick went home before Chloe’s parents got home, and were none the wiser.

Aldrick had gone home that night, elated and gushing about how one of his good friends knew so much about firearms and how she had SO many of them. His father overheard him, and asked him who this person was, out of curiosity. He told him that her name was Chloe Abendroth, and she went to his school. His father froze at the name Abendroth, and quickly excused himself. He made a few quick phone calls… Korbinian had been holding out on them. Aldrick’s father was also part of the syndicate, unbeknownst to his wife and son, and he was not happy about this new discovery. He called a few other syndicate members, and they formulated a plan. They would take those weapons, whether Korbinian liked it or not. He too had been a military man and, more so than Korbinian, had taken Germany's defeat hard. He was convinced that he and the others of the syndicate could restore Germany to her former glory... and if Korbinian wasn't WITH them, he was AGAINST them.

One night, Chloe received a call from Aldrick. He was flustered and sounded scared. His father had been acting strange since he had mentioned the weapons to him, and he didn’t know what he was planning. He seemed more angry and distant, as if someone had ticked him off…. His father had gone out that night claiming that he wanted to chat and have a beer with his good friend “Korbinian”. From downstairs, Chloe heard a knock at the door. She did her best to allay Aldrick’s worries and quickly excused herself. Hurrying downstairs, she made it to the door first, and peeked through the peephole. Two men were standing there with smiles on their faces, and one even waved at the peephole. She asked who was there, and one of the men replied that he was a friend of Korbinian’s, and wished to speak to him. Chloe hesitated, but opened the door to let them inside. Chloe called for her father as the two men stood at the front door. When Korbinian came downstairs and saw the men, his face went white. He quickly grabbed Chloe and handed her to his wife, and told them both to go into the cellar while he talked to his friends in private. Chloe was confused, but her mother didn’t ask questions and took her daughter to the cellar.

Once in the cellar, they heard the men’s muffled voices from upstairs. Their conversation went on for a little while, but started progressively getting louder and louder. The two men were yelling angrily, and Korbinian sounded almost desperate. Agatha thought that this could be it… she was not part of the syndicate, but knew of her husband’s involvement. She was halfway explaining this to Chloe when the first shots were fired. Chloe was shocked, and her mother told her to stay in the cellar, no matter what. No matter how many shots were fired, she had to stay put! She guided Chloe to a hiding spot in the cellar, rummaged through some weapons until she found her favourite revolver, kissed Chloe and told her that her mother and father loved her very much, and went to go check on her husband. Chloe did what she was asked, and 3 more shots were fired…. Eventually she heard the cellar door open again, and her father thundered down the stairs, his wife following close behind. Her father had blood spattered all over him, and he looked frantic. He told Chloe that they had to leave, and she had to grab anything she thought was important and could carry. Chloe was terrified, but did as her father said. She grabbed her newsboy cap, her father's silver pocket watch, a simple silver ring of her mothers, and her coat. When she went upstairs, she saw the bodies of both men, sprawled on the floor. The sight was sickening and, as she stepped through the mess to hurry out the door with her family, she knew it was a sight and smell she would never forget.

One of the men that had been shot was identified as Aldrick's father. Chloe had no time to contact Aldrick or anyone else for that matter; she and her family fled Germany. It wasn't safe there for them anymore. The syndicate, the Blutsbrüders, would not let the murder of two of their own go unpunished. Even then, they had German law to worry about. Chloe and her family sneaked aboard the first immigrant ship they could find heading towards America, the land of the free. When they first landed on American soil, they were found by the authorities to be illegal immigrants that had fled their country. Chloe's parents begged them to at least take Chloe into the country, and if it was necessary, they themselves would return to Germany. The Americans were understanding of their plight, but the laws still held. Instead of sending them back, they were taken into protective custody. Theirs was a hard case to figure, but they eventually came to an agreement. This agreement was not something Chloe agreed with, but she had no choice in the matter. It took two years to come up with a reasonable form of action.

In order to protect Chloe, she was to be separated from her parents. If the syndicate DID find a way into the United States, they would no doubt be searching for Korbinian and Agatha. As a result, they reasoned that Chloe would never be safe if she stayed with them. With the remainder of the money her parents had grabbed before fleeing, they placed Chloe in a boarding school, Adessi Hall, in a town called Abaton. She was given an unreliable way to contact them, and they were then split from one another.

Life was never the same for Chloe. She never did get over the incident. She believed it to be her fault. Had it not been her who had blown her father's cover? Who had nearly killed her family, and had uprooted their entire life? She now didn't know where her parents were, whether they were safe or not...even the fact that one day, the syndicate might find her instead of her parents. These thoughts haunted her every day, and for the longest time, she had nightmares about the sight and smell of the two bodies in the door way. The ordeal had hardened Chloe. She was no longer naive and fun loving, nor was she as trusting as she once was. She grew cold and distant, and wanted nothing to do with others... mostly for their own good. She grew to hate herself. Because of the current events of the world, many people viewed her with discrimination. She was German, and right at that moment, Germany wasn't exactly the most popular country within the United States books. She was met with much animosity, and, having been separated from her only family, felt quite alone and alienated. She now attends Adessi Hall as a 9th grade Freshman.

Chloe speaks fluent English, but she speaks with a slight German accent. She sometimes uses German words in an English sentence. Whether she does this on purpose or it is automatic is unknown.
