Moving

For awhile I've been thinking about moving from livejournal mostly because I don't find the mechanics of posting and managing posts to be all that convenient. So I've set up a wordpress blog and imported my livejournal posts there. I want to make my lj a little more private and my wordpress blog a little more public and I think this is the best way ( Read more... )

I'm curious how you imported your posts. Is there a function for it or did you do it one by one?

I hear you on the image weirdness. Have you noticed something off on the colors of pictures after you upload them?

My issue is that it just won't accept images from flickr. I played around with the specific url linking to the photo, but the official stable link provided by flickr doesn't work in wordpress. I haven't noticed anything with the colours but then I've been a bit distracted...

Importing was ridiculously easy. There's an import tool in the wordpress dashboard that worked almost perfectly. There were a couple of little things here and there but nothing major.

Maybe try photobucket? I know it gives multiple options for image codes. I have found the direct upload (from computer) option to work rather well.

And thanks! I am going to have to find that on the dashboard :)

I actually used photobucket for awhile but I much prefer the viewing and organization options offered by flickr. I'd rather not use the direct upload as space is limited and I will quickly fill that with the amount of images I use!

The importing device is just on the dashboard menu on the left under tools > import. There's a specific selection for livejournal and then it prompts you for privacy settings on friends only posts. It worked very well for me!
