I think it's kind of weird to go on a vacation that requires dressing up. I like to dress up and go out to dinner at slightly "fancy" by my standards restaurant from time to time, but that's dinner, and not my vacation. When I'm vacation it's shorts, T-shirts, and baseball caps. But that's me! That's my idea of a fun and relaxing time, which is what I want my vacation to be.

I like fancy dinners occasionally, but the last thing I wore an honest-to-god cocktail-type dress to was prom. And I wore skate shoes and a bunnyhug with it.

Hello! I'm sorry, I've been lurking here, reading your entries, and just had to comment. I was totally tweaked by the dress code when I went on my first (and only so far) cruise, but honestly people show up in all sorts of stuff, in varying levels of appropriateness, and none of them are turned away. And generally there are a couple dining rooms, so you should be able to go casual if you really don't want to dress up. I think I wore one dress the whole cruise, and it wasn't super fancy. I think if you wear nice pants and a nice top, you should be fine for most dinners. I enjoy dressing up, but being stressed about it is no fun. And I say if you want to wear men's formal attire, go for it. Or even a button up shirt and tie. I think women look wonderful in men's clothes, and I don't see how they can bitch if it's good enough for the guys.

: P Thanks for the info!

I could wax poetic about how much I dislike dressing up, to the point where "office dress code" is a question I ask in job interviews.

Although it might admittedly be fun to wear a tux (the website says they have them for-rent on the ship) to the formal night, if only for the look on my aunt's face when I suggest it.
