10 - FINALLY! Enough with all the Mark/Roger stuff. I don't know about the other 97% of Rent fans, but I only see Mark and Roger as friends and roommates, like brothers.

I'm with you. There's already a gay male couple in the show, and Jonathan was very straightforward about it. I don't think he intended an additional *secret* gay couple.

Because when Giacosa wrote La Boheme Schaunard and Colline were so his secret gay couple. Oh, wait.. No. Jonathon just made that up. Using that horrible, horrible imagination of his.

I in no way think that Roger and Mark are a real couple. I find it interesting reading about them. I know Mark is straight. I know Roger is straight. I know they're fictional characters and that, regardless of the sexuality of the actors, they are unaffected. I know Jonathon didn't intend to be anything more than friends. Yet still I enjoy reading it. It's because I'm a bad American, and occasional use me (gasp) imagination and break out of what is presented to me instead of just accepted canon as the utter truth. Because it's fun, and because it you can twist Mark and Roger's relationship easily into something more without ruining their characters (much in the same way as Schaunard and Colline).
