The Academy Awards are on tonight, so I suppose it's time for my annual predictions. I'll spare you the long commentary and just choose which one's I think will win and which ones should win.

Well, it's been quite the hectic two months. I just got done with my comps, which are my Masters exams. We woke up the next day bright, chipper, and excited for the day's events. But first, we had to figure out how to travel around without my car (which stayed in a parking garage). This summer has been pretty great and our vacation to San Francisco was definitely the icing on the cake. The original plan was to take a week off and travel through California, hit L.A., stay in San Francisco, camp in Yosemite, travel down through Death Valley, Las Vegas, and the Salt Lake desert. Tomorrow, we're headed to San Diego for SeaWorld! Woohoo!

I am proud new owner of a 99 Hyundai Elantra! It's smokey gray and has a red-stripe along its sides (much like my first car). Other than some cosmetic stuff (the hood was replaced by the previous owner) and the driver's door doesn't unlock when it's locked, it's perfect. I'm also very excited that it has a sunroof.

Recently, I've been renting movies from the library. I got "Jules et Jim" (1962), a French New Wave film by Francois Truffaut. It stars the incomparable Jeanne Moreau as Catherine. The film exemplifies the goals of the New Wave movement, namely that they do away with techniques of "classical" film. The directors, therefore, often take risks in ( Read more... )

I just finished number 8 on my list, Kazuo Ishiguro's book Never Let Me Go. I read it in about 2 weeks, which is very fast for me, as I have the habit to pick a book up where I left off after a year of not reading it. Just saw X-Men as well and have to say that I liked the movie overall. I won't go into detail. Though, we did have to watch it in the VERY FRONT ROW...didn't distract too much after awhile.

That's all. I'm off to play my new computer game, Freelancer. Has anyone else heard of the it? It's a space pilot game. I'm engrossed in it so far.
