question: when someone brings something *really* expesnive into a pawn shop, do you need any vin #'s?

My parents house got robbed again this year and my brothers X-box and PS2 got stolen along with his bike and jewlery. I was just wondering.

Well...if an item has a Serial Number...like a tool...musical instrument...or game system...than yes we do have to take down the number...however jewelry and the like doesn't have any...it also kind of depends on how expensive the bike was...because most of the less expensive ones don't have a serial number...
This also depends on the honesty of the pawn shop...I know all but one or two of the ones in bakersfield are honest...however in most places they are not...where as we may be sly and try and make something seem less important (such as giving $15 on x-boxes because the new one is coming out)...in other mostly larger cities they may be convinced to outright lie on tickets or take in goods they know to be stolen...and hide them...

i like hearing stories about your family because then mine seems normal. my boyfiend just had to explain to his mother that i couldn't get my own cosigner for an apartment because my mom is a compulsive shopper and my dad is on the run from the irs. i'm still not sure she realizes that he wasn't exaggerating.
