2nd mile-[voice/action]

[After spending some time wandering around Hakkai has found a nice, shaded place to sit. He's already dropped by all the likely places, even tried the journals but no response was forthcoming. That and the lack of absolute chaos Sanzo would have caused at having their trip delayed again was enough indication that he was well and truly alone in ( Read more... )

That's a mild way of putting it. You haven't been forced to do anything humiliating, have you?

[The voice startled Hakuryuu, causing him to fly toward his master in fright. Hakkai gave his pet a comforting smile, petting it while he brought his journal closer.]

Humiliating? No, not yet...though I do possess a rather high tolerance for it, should it come my way.

Why? Should I be worried miss?

If you value free will at all, then yes.

...you know there's an experiment going on, right?

An experiment? I see. I've arrived at a rather inopportune time it seems.

[Hakkai turned to Hakuryuu, his gaze thoughtful and a bit worried.]

Could you please tell me what the experiment entails?

The town isn't so bad at all once you get used to it.

That is good to hear. It seems time truly is a healer for all things. Now that I have so much of it, perhaps all I can do now is enjoy.

Mmmh, well. It's not without its danger, either. But for the most part it isn't so bad.

Well, danger is the spice of life and one I'm rather familiar with. It is something I can handle.

It's the rest that has me a bit...worried.

[Here Hakkai tried to smile as he observed the results of the experiment walk past. Many of them did not return the gesture, embarrassment and hostility saturating the air.]

But perhaps this, too, shall pass?

[Emil is walking home from the store with yet MORE juice-- he's been having to make trips pretty much daily, as Richter needs lots of fluids while he's ill and juice is good for him.

It's on one such trip that he spots Hakkai and Hakuryuu, and curiosity draws him over for a closer look.]

Is that a monster?

[Hakkai gazed up, taking note of the blond young man staring at Hakuryuu in curiosity and then at Hakuryuu who, for his part, wasn't particularly happy on being called a monster and chirped a bit indignantly. Hakkai stroked its head, hoping to pacify.]

I wouldn't call him a monster. Not unless you disturb his sleep.

[Hakuryuu gave a huff, going back to eating its apple. Hakkai, happy to have averted a crisis, realized he hadn't answered the question and smiled apologetically.]

Hakuryuu is a dragon. Is this your first time seeing one?

[Emil shakes his head, realizing that classifications of creatures like dragons probably didn't work the same way on his world as they did on others.]

No, it's just that where I'm from, dragons are considered a type of monster. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insult him.

[Hakuryuu may be able to sense that there's something odd about Emil in the sense that he doesn't 'feel' like a normal human.]

[Have a little girl skipping by, Hakkai. She stops when she overhears you talking to Hakuryuu, and that's... really cute, fff.]

It's not always this lively, really! And that's a really cute monster you got there! Is it it tamed~?

[Hakkai's vision was suddenly assuaged by pink, an excited little girl speaking to him. He smiled at her enthusiasm, his hands stroking his pet in an effort to keep a vexed Hakuryuu calm. The little dragon wasn't keen on being likened to a monster and Hakkai made sure to choose his words very carefully.]

He is friendly, yes.

[He gave Hakuryuu a smile and the little dragon, unable to resist the gesture, chirped amicably at the little girl, ire waning.]

It looks a lot like some of the monsters back home~ And Gloomietta'd train a lot of them to fight for her, too. But I guess he doesn't want to be called one, huh~?

[Anise turns to Hakuryuu, and smiles.] You're still really cute, though~! Can I pet you? ♥
