It's time to spread our wings and fly...

People who have favorites fascinate me. I don't know why, but when someone can answer the question "what is your favorite houseplant?" without thinking too hard, I immediately feel like I love them. I used to ask my parents what their favorites were all the time. My mom had her answers to everything. Favorite music group: Three dog night. ( Read more... )

See I can't do this. Because it all varies by mood, season, what I'm writing, the fact that I'm constantly on the lookout for new things, etc. etc. lol

Yeah... I had to kind of look at what has remained consistent for me. Because otherwise, I'm the same way.
I wouldn't say that these things are my favorites.. more like, they've stood the test of time. lol. But yeah, I totally understand what you mean, and this was a hard exercise for me!

I know what you mean about not really having so many favorites. When I was a kid I was really insecure about everything, though, so I thought I was supposed to have favorites. So I would analyze and pick things that seemed accurate for what a girl of my age would have chosen as a favorite. It was really nuts, now that I think about it...

Also, its good to remember that favorites usually change over time. Its uncommon to keep the same favorite anything for all of your life.

I`ll have to check out that song from A Perfect Circle...BTW have you ever heard the live, slower version of Part of Me by Tool from the album Salival? It has similar haunting properties, for me anyway. The album also contains a cover of Led Zepplin`s No Quarter, which isn`t bad either.

I also love Rasing Arizona and cake.

Yeah... it's so hard to pick favorites of anything. I don't know how my mom did it! (unless she just pulled them off the top of her head).

I haven't heard much of Tool - I was really only a fan around the time Lateralus came out, and then shifted my attention to APC and forgot about them (so bad of me to do that, because I know they're a good band). So, I'll have to check out Saliva!

I can understand--Tool`s a bit different and APC is probably more your taste. I like both but haven`t bought any but the first APC album. I should be better about that, too.

Ah, and its Salival. I can send you a burned copy. I recently had to download it because I lost the version I had years ago. A couple of the tracks I could really do without, but most of its pretty good.

Sleeping Beauty is totally the best Disney movie! It's so dark and beautiful at the same time.

Also, I totally wanted to name my daughter Ophelia when I was a kid. But then I wanted to name my son Villain, so wtf.

I love making favourites lists, but I have a million favourites, for each tiny category. I'm a Capricorn though, we tend to like having little labels for everything.

Haha. I just had to see if I could pinpoint one thing as a favorite. I'm sick of being indifferent!

And I agree 100% that Sleeping Beauty is the best thing Disney has done! I bought the most recent edition, and it had tons of extras, and I totally gobbled that all up! Loved it!

I still think that Ophelia is a pretty name. But I don't think I could ever name a child Ophelia... But we'll see what happens if I ever have kids! lol. There really has to be a lot of thought that goes into kids' names... And I think Villain would be an awesome name, if only it didn't mean "bad guy." The word itself is actually nice! lol. (but, I have a cousin named Dylan, and I kinda like that name... and Villain sounds similar, so maybe I'm just conflating the two? lol)

I need to get that! I just realized that I don't have Sleeping Beauty at all, which is not acceptable! I used to be in a Disney movie club so I could get them at a discount, but I guess I'll have to suck it up and buy it full price xD

Ophelia IS a pretty name, but it has such a stigma attached to it. It's like Delilah. Or Jezebel. Or Lolita. WTF, men are ruining all the interesting girl's names! But yeah the word Villain is a cool one. It's too bad you can't name someone like that. But then I have a habit of naming things (pets, characters, etc) ridiculous things. Like the most recent character I created for a story is named Athenea ._.
