Summary: Sanada feels that he and Nozawa aren't doing what the other couples are. He tried to be romantic and fails horribly.

People noticed how Sanada was acting odd that morning. He was spaced out, wasn't as cheerful as usual, and he kept bumping into people during practice.
"Is something wrong?" Nozawa asks him in a mild-mannered way during their break time. They were sitting on the floor with the other juniors, a pile of snacks before them. He pouts when Sanada doesn't seem to notice and pinches his arm.
"Ow! What was that for?!" Sanada whines. He rubbed at the part Nozawa had pinched.
"You weren't paying attention." Nozawa looks away and goes back to nibbling on a stick of Pocky.
"Sorry," Sanada apologized.
"Don't worry about him," Iwamoto says as he wanders towards their pile of snacks. He picks up a bag of potato chips and grins. "Mind if I take this?"
"Go ahead." Nozawa smiles and nods in a good-mannered way.
"Yeah, don't worry about him!" Watanabe says through a mouthful of Iwamoto's potato chips. "He's probably just thinking of ways to impress you again. And they probably won't!"
"Yeah!" Iwamoto pipes. "Like that time when he tried to make Nokkun's lunch!" And the two of them snickered.
Sanada snapped out of his dazed state of mind. "What?!"
"Yeah, that's probably why he's so spaced out," Iwamoto agrees.
"I was just thinking," Sanada says as he turns to look at Nozawa. "Um, would you like to buy matching pajamas??" He grins sheepishly.
Watanabe and Iwamoto blink twice before bursting into side-splitting laughter. Nozawa's mouth hangs open.
"What's so funny?" Sanada scowls at his two laughing bandmates. "I happen to know that that's what couples do these days!" He smirked at them haughtily.
"Pajamas!" Watanabe hoots, clutching at his sides and laughing again.
"Matching pajamas!" Iwamoto grabbed Watanabe's arm to keep himself from falling over.
"You two are just jealous," Sanada snaps at them before shooing them away. He turns back to grin at Nozawa. "What do you say?"
Nozawa closes and opens his mouth to say something, but closes it again.
"You must be touched by my romantic idea," Sanada beams. "We should have matching sweaters, shirts and toothbrushes too!"
"Umm," Nozawa starts. "Why?"
"Eh?" Sanada frowns. "Don't you like it?"
"No, um," Nozawa fumbles with his words. "It's just kind of embarassing, and... Why would you want to do that kind of thing?"
"I think it's just more couple-like," Sanada says dully, and Nozawa watches him go to the rubbish bin to throw his empty wrappers.

Nozawa wonders why Sanada felt that they weren't a couple. They did hold hands, go on dates, sleep in each other's houses side by side, and do other couple-like things, so he racked his brain on what could be wrong.
"Sanada," he whispers against the older boy's neck that night. They were huddled together under Sanada's comforter as if to hide from the cold winter wind. "Don't you think what we're doing right now isn't, umm... What couples do?"
Sanada hums thoughtfully before going, "Ah. I think you're right." He tousles Nozawa's hair fondly, giving a small chuckle. "We don't need those pair thingies, don't we?"
"Yeah..." Nozawa smiles. "We sure don't!"

The next day after practice, Sanada watches Nozawa get off at the station nearest his home, waving back as the younger boy turned to smile at him.
When he gets home, he flips open his mobile phone and sees that he's received an email from Nozawa.
Look inside the pocket of your bag. :), it said, with only a simple smiling face and no fancy emoji.
He zips open his bag's pocket and finds a small packet inside, containing a top hat-wearing penguin mobile phone strap and a small note saying "I know you'd complain if you got the girl penguin, so I gave you this one. Love, Nozawa Yuuki."
"Nokkun sure is shy, crossing out the 'love' part!" Sanada laughs happily and goes to put the strap on his mobile phone.

"I thought you said we didn't need those stuff," Sanada says to Nozawa the next day, a wide smile appearing on his face when he sees the girl penguin hanging from Nozawa's mobile phone.
"Yeah, but you wanted something couple-y, right?" Nozawa offered him a piece of sliced melon and Sanada quickly puts it into his mouth. "And you love penguins."
"Oh," Sanada mumbles as he chews the piece of melon. He swallows and smiles again. "I love you, too. Much more than the penguins."
Before Nozawa could reply, their bandmates burst into laughing behind them.
"Since when have you been listening?!" Sanada demands. Nozawa's cheeks turned pink.
"Penguins," Miyadate chokes before bursting into laughter with the other Mis Snow Man members.
