Well, you have NW and a 5:40 wake up call to thank (oh and Curious George episodes) for allowing me the time to finish this! Sorry it's taken so long, but I know you understand ( ... )

That was an incredibly beautiful story. I must admit, I am tragically late to the BSG universe (I've been pulled in pretty recently due to my love for Tahmoh Penikett.... gorgeous, talented hunk of man). I loved the narration from Helo's perspective. It is such a unique depiction of masculinity in relation to love, family, tragedy, betrayal and war. Thanks for writing this. It's the type of fic you hope never ends, where you secretly hope for an additional chapter button at the bottom of every page ( ... )

Thank you very much for the kind comments! With the series coming to an end, I've actually just picked this story back up, filling in some of the blanks and telling the missing stories.

May I suggest checking out www.bsgkindreds.com if you are a big Tahmoh fan. Many of his fellow fans have found their way over there, and it's in the process of devoting more time to Tahmoh and Grace's other works now that BSG is finishing up.

Thanks again!
Jeff

Heya Jeff - I've just read your story for probably the 6th time and I've gotta say that the emotions you call to the surface and your skill as a writer are just as obvious as when I first finished it. I was trying to figure out what brought me back to this fanfic again and again, when I realized that I haven't been able to find a voice of Helo's that I've appreciated nearly as much. The story's great, the characters are interesting, but it's the narration from your version of Helo that weaves the whole thing together and makes it truly special. In basic terms: I love that he's really in love with Sharon (other talented writers have paired him with Kara or Racetrack...boo) and I adore this depiction of him as a new father. It always confused me that the series never addressed the adjustment that had to take place when Hera was brought back to her family: Helo and Athena learning to be parents, the consequences of what happened to Hera (is she traumatized? how do they react to the president from here on out? do they just forgive Adama ( ... )

Found this story from Kindreds post "Just Another Eight." Still new to LJ and getting my LJ legs going, but wanted to drop a line and say it was great story. Liked how you played with the little scenes we'd seen of Roslin's disconcerting decisions as leader and Apollo's distrust of Athena (looking at her as though she was guilty of destroying the Basestar and referring to her as Karl's wife instead of by name in cannon) in relegating her to deck duty or how he responded after she was attacked. (And I did enjoy Helo's response to Apollo's remark!) Surprised by the revelation about Earth. Liked Helo and Athena making a life for themselves, and that they finally had their happy ending after all the chaos they went through on.

Yay! A happy ending!

This was deliciously long and satisfying to read.

Thank you for writing it.

My husband introduced me to BSG a few weeks ago and I began searching for Helo/Sharon fic in earnest. Seems I am a little late to the party. Heh.

Anyway, this lovely fic was exactly what I was looking for! I am definitely bookmarking this to read again.
