We should all be using LiveJournal more, because facebook is getting weird.
This is a differently better(?) and interesting tool for chronicling and exploring all of our adventures and mindsets. Together and only together, we can do it.

Om-nom-nom status updates naarggh.

I think it's narcissistic in a different way, and I'm trying to look at it like "What I would do with a public journal and why a public journal would exist".. when people are good at LJ, it's fun to read and to pick apart who they are based on how they present themselves, as well as relatively interesting. When they're bad at LJ, it's fun because you can laugh at them. I'd like to think that we can be good at it. I think that the existence of Twitter killed any reason we have to be really worried about narcissism.

Facebook has made it impossible to be cool with its new system of interests--the way you used to (still do?) have yours listed pretty much exploits what people do with facebook and that it's funny, and now I have no idea what cool is and it's creepy. Being cool is important. I'm angry that I don't know how to be cool.

that's sort of the point-lj had this heyday in like 2003 where everyone was using it instead of facebook, so it was legitimate to actually write about your day or post personality quiz bullshit.. now that it's pretty much us as an audience, it's become narcissistic. facebook would be super sad too if you only had 5 friends
