Long time no hear as I'm so sure with all of you.
I. Baby is a coming
Amy is around 7 months now and there isn't much time left before the second edition to the family comes along. Yes, this is the 2 of 2 of our efforts in popluating the world so I'll have to plan on my own 'doctor' appointment soon ;P
II. The cost of living
The payments are taking a bite but we'll manage. I do hope all goes well with our reimbursement of the midwife appointments out of pocket. Oh, did I mention that Blue Cross can suck a nut?
Open enrollment from my office won't occur till November, so till then it's a lean few months but it leads me to my next topic....
III. Photography - The dry season
My photos must suck beyond all means. I can't shoot for free all the time. With that said, I can't expand to larger projects without getting paid gigs. I swear every model noob with no book, cam or the inevitable 'boyfriend' pics is rediculous. I have VERY low port rates but it seems that's just so damn expensive to most, OR I should pay a noob? I think not. It's just depressing to know that in the late 80's doing port work for 35 dollars a roll, i made more money then, than now in photography. I can't get in the studio as much as I want because, yep, no one wants to pay. I guess this is the downside. I was getting emails out the ass and now barely a call, or a nudge. I know I've been working on new techniques, but I must suck that bad.
Hopefully, I can put together a shoot end of October with Crimson Empress here in Florida. She has offered to loan her line and dammit, I want more fashion mag photos which I have yet to accomplish due to lack of model response in DOING or shall I say myself OFFERING TFP to do more high end work. Personally, the portraits are getting old though practicing lighting is great. I just feel it's time to move on for submissions to Gothic Beauty etc.
If Joe Traina (love his work by the way) can do it, dammit, that's what I can do. Look at his photos and you'll see the quality and style I'm aiming for. I also understand that I would have to take a back seat to those wanting to work with him as opposed to me.
Sigh. Depressed. I feel I've pissed everyone off or something. Events, no one can 'quote' afford it. Weddings? Not a soul I suppose is getting married. Band press releases? Oh well, bands are bands I suppose.
I have three gigs lined up paid, and everyone backs out. It's frustrating. I suppose I could place ad's or bulletins on myspace / ezboard but then I feel like whoring. But am I am?
IV. Disney
We've just returned from Disney and though a stretch in budget, it was fun. Little man had a great time as usual, I am glad that Amy got to go to her pin event. It was nice.
Well, i should have some new photos up soon though I am not quite happy with the latest tests on what I've been trying to acheive in the studio. I should just go back to what I do like and stick with it, that style.
Hello everyone, hope all is well.
I haven't fallen off the planet yet.
