Character Name: Splash Woman, often shortened to Splash.
Character Series:  Mega Man Classic
Character Age:  Physically, only four or five years old, but appears to be in her early 20's.

(note: Splash Woman has very little development in canon, so most of this will be based on personal interpretation/headcannon/speculation.)

In the year 20xx, one can hardly take a step without running into a robot. Whether they're regulating the flow of energy in a power plant or performing simple tasks around the house, robots are everywhere - and  Dr. Thomas Light, the scientist responsible for creating Mega Man, is at the forefront of his field. As a notable robotics engineer, he specializes in creating civil service robots. Splash Woman was built by Light as part of a line of eight other utility bots; she was designed to rescue victims of shipwrecks and those stranded at sea. It was a job she took great pride in, and her record was flawless. However, this peaceful life of servitude would soon be cut short.

At this point, robots were  were no longer unique, special creations. Built one right after the other, they were reduced to tools that quickly became outdated and replaced. In order to regulate the robot population, the government enacted a new law: effective immediately, all industrial robots were given a fixed lifespan, after which they would be scrapped.  This law applied to all robots currently in use as well, putting Splash's line of robots past the expiration date. This meant that after a few short years of service, Splash Woman was scheduled for destruction.  It didn't matter that she was a diligent worker with no previous history of violence - human laws always prevailed, and Splash Woman had no choice but to obey. She knew there was no chance of escape or rebellion; if she tried anything they would simply destroy her on sight. She was soon marched off to the scrap heap. forced to wait out what little time she had left.

Shortly before her deactivation, a man swept in and offered her one last chance at life. It was Dr. Albert Wily, Dr. Light's long-standing rival and a villainous scientist. Everyone knew of him, thanks to his constant (failed) attempts at world domination, but this time Wily's words sounded anything but evil. He told Splash what she needed to hear: that she and her brothers were still useful, and they still had the right to live. Wily offered them a second lease on life, an offer that Splash and her linemates eagerly accepted.

In true evil-scientist fashion, Wily took their trust and twisted it. He quickly installed a special chip in the robots, giving them a single order: to fight back against the humans. Splash Woman and the others tore through the city at his command, while the citizens were still unaware of Wily's interference. To the public it looked like Dr. Light's escaped robots were on a rampage, and Wily used this confusion to frame Dr. Light and have him arrested.  Desperate to clear his creator's name, Mega Man set off after Wily for the umpteenth time. Wily quickly retreated to his fortress, putting Light's newly reprogrammed robots between him and the blue bomber. Splash Woman stood watch over an undersea route on the way to Wily's castle, prepared to destroy Mega Man.

Once he burst into her lair, she wasted no time in launching her attack. Splash fought with every intention of destroying her brother, using her trident and her song to send wave after wave of robotic swordfish after him. Even though she was in her element, Mega Man was able to bring Splash Woman down, damaging her just enough to cause her systems to shut down. Looking for some sign as to why his siblings had gone berserk, Mega Man extracted her memory circuit board - and on it, he found a very familiar logo.

After rushing back to Dr. Light's lab, he viewed the data on the circuit board and learned the whole story. The robots' conversation with Dr. Wily had been recorded on it, revealing exactly who was behind it all. TOOK HIM LONG ENOUGH, AMIRITE Using the data to locate Wily's Castle, Mega Man set off to stop the scientist and clear Dr. Light's name...

...but not before fighting all eight of his fellow robots. Again. In a last-ditch effort to save himself, Wily gathered Splash and the others, repaired them just enough to function, and put them in consecutive rooms between him and Mega Man. If they couldn't defeat him this time, Wily decided he would get rid of them himself. In her weakened state, Splash stood even less of a chance against him than she did before; Mega Man swiftly defeated her once more. To celebrate, Wily greeted the blue bomber himself with a giant armless skull dinosaur robot. And a flying saucer. Then a detonation sequence triggered and shit got real. Long story short, Mega Man is victorious for the nth time,Dr. Light is proven innocent, and Wily slips off into the 8-bit night.

Just before making their escape, Mega Man and Dr. Light recover Splash and her seven linemates. They haule them back to Light's lab, where the good doctor safely restored them to their original selves. Splash Woman's memories of the whole incident were left intact, leaving her deeply ashamed and frightened. She was certain she'd be sent off for deactivation after all the trouble she'd caused. Dr. Light and Mega Man insisted that they didn't blame her, that they knew why she and her brothers did what they did, but she still couldn't bring herself to face them. Dr. Light released her into the laboratory's aquarium after her repairs, and Splash Woman refused to surface for days. After some time alone and plenty of encouragement in the form of surprise hornets from Hornet Man her family, Splash was slowly drawn out of her shell. She hadn't put the event behind her, but some of her guilt had been eased. Dr. Light even assured her that he'd do all he could to put back on the job soon, which greatly lifted her spirits.

And then everyone had fun at the beach.

Personality:

More than anything, Splash Woman wants to be useful. Throughout her period of use, she knew that the humans saw her as nothing more than a tool, no matter how much good she did. Many other robots responded to this attitude with contempt, thinking themselves better than the weak creatures that looked down on them, but not Splash. She never held that view of theirs against them. Instead she worked as hard as she could, thinking that even if they didn't respect her, at least they'd acknowledge that she was helpful. And just maybe, if she saved enough people, then people would change their assumptions someday. Maybe they'd see her - and all robots - as fellow companions rather than tools. This never happened (since the robot law was passed anyway), but Splash never stopped trying. She never lost her respect for humans, even though many of them didn't respect her in turn.

Because her work is so isolating, Splash Woman doesn't have much experience interacting with others; those that she actually gets to "meet" are either half-drowned or screaming for help. This leaves her feeling more than a little lonely, and as a result she jumps at the chance to meet new people whenever possible. On the rare occasion a ship passes by that isn't sinking, Splash will often swim alongside them for great distances, hoping to catch a glimpse of the people aboard. Unfortunately, all this lack of interaction also makes Splash Woman naive - she assumes nothing but the best in people, even if their initial appearance says otherwise. (Her brothers think Jewel Man is vain, but she knows he's just confident. Very confident.)  However, she doesn't hide the fact that she's inexperienced in the ways of the world. After spending her whole life in the water, everything on the outside seems so new and exciting to her. People as a whole are an endless source of fascination for her, and she finds mundane tasks like eating and walking highly interesting. Especially walking. Her mermaid's tail is what keeps her tied to the water, and while she certainly doesn't hate the way she was built, it does sadden her that she can't go and do happy land-things with everyone else. Eager to try out new things, Splash will give just about anything a go, no matter if she messes up or not. If you give her advice she will listen intently, and if something she hears doesn't sit right with her, she'll second-guess herself rather than question the other person's knowledge. For example: someone tells her of their depressingly negative view of the world, contrary to her sunny-side-up outlook. Surely he must have his reasons for thinking that way! After all, he's seen more of the world than she has. This ties in to one of Splash Woman's most crucial flaws - she is very willing to trust people, sometimes overly so. Case in point: The Wily Incident.™

Not only is Splash Woman quick to trust, but she is very easily persuaded. Under normal circumstances a Lightbot would never listen to Dr. Wily, sworn enemy of Dr. Light and robot user/abuser extraordinaire. However, in the face of imminent destruction she was panicked, vulnerable, and Wily told her exactly what she wanted to hear. He appealed to her  biggest need - to be needed. Wily went on and on about how useful she was, and how wrong it was to scrap her so prematurely. He promised her that the world would see how much she had to offer, and most of all, they'd finally respect her. After hearing that she didn't give a second thought as to who he was, or how he was breaking the new law - everything she had ever wanted, everything she had worked tirelessly for was finally within reach. Due to her lack of bad-guy-sensors, she could only see the positives, and didn't doubt him at all until it was too late. Splash's reprogramming caused her to do things she would never normally do - attacking innocent humans, mindlessly wrecking property, even going after Mega Man (whom she considered as close of a brother as her linemates).

Splash had always been one to avoid violence, but after seeing just how much damage she caused under Wily's control, she became more of a pacifist than ever. If it looks like a situation is about to turn violent, she will do whatever she can to disarm it before it gets to that point. And if she's absolutely, positively forced into a combat situation with no way out, Splash prefers to dodge rather than attack - especially underwater, where she can outmaneuver most anyone. Splash is well-versed in the use of her Laser Trident, but she's much more comfortable using it as a tool than a weapon. The lasers that it fires can only travel in a straight path; while a more skilled fighter could use this to his advantage, predicting where his opponent would be and  leading them into its path, Splash Woman cannot. She can defend herself, but in the end she's a rescuer, not a fighter.

Besides her job, there are two things Splash loves more than anything in all the land. The first: her family.  She thinks of the seven other robots in her line as her brothers, even though she rarely gets to see them, and would do anything for them. In fact, any robot of Dr. Light's is like family to her, and she respects him like a father. Of course, seeing the overall trouble she'd caused under Wily's command upset her - but the fact that it hurt Light and Mega Man, her family? That made her feel worse than anything. Second on the list: singing. Splash Woman has a beautiful voice and she loves to use it. She's not vain about it, but point her to a karaoke bar and she'll have a blast. She has just as much fun singing to herself or a passing dolphin. It doesn't matter where she is, whether she has an audience of one or 100 - she's happy as long as she can carry a tune.

And did I mention she's afraid of hornets? Cause wow, she is really afraid of hornets.

Abilities:

Laser Trident: Splash Woman can fire three-pronged lasers from her trident, in addition to wielding it like a typical melee weapon.
General Robot Durability: In robot-form, Splash has a general resistance to physical damage, wear-and-tear, high and low temperatures (within reason), disease, and all the other benefits that come with being made of metal. Naturally, none of this would apply as a human.
Swimming: Since she was designed for use in the ocean,  Splash can swim and maneuver underwater at high speeds. Nothing supersonic, mind you - but she can outpace most boats. As a human this would be nerfed quite a bit, but once she gets accustomed to her new body, she'll be able to swim faster than average.

I have a quick question, if anyone would be so kind as to help me.

Lately I have been feeling...sick. I have a - a stomach ache I believe, it's rather difficult to describe - and my vision is slipping in and out of focus. None of the others in the house are showing symptoms of any illness, so I don't know how I could have come down with anything. Perhaps my immune system is still not up to date? And I haven't eaten anything spoiled since the last accident. I have been doing my best to eat only things without a strong odor, just as I was told. Actually, come to think of it...I haven't had much to eat at all. It must sound silly to you all, but I simply keep forgetting to, and--

[Pauses as she flips through her mental catalog of What It's Like Being Human. How long can they last without eating again...? Then it hits her, and the joy of her discovery cheers her up.]

That must be it! I'm not ill at all - I'm hungry!
