What if Dean had said yes to Michael?

Jan 10, 2011 23:44

I know that the angels promised 'heaven on earth' if Dean would become Michael's vessel and also that there would be many casualties in the war, but what do you think the world would be like for the post-apocalyptic survivors if Michael!Dean defeated Lucifer?

Any input at all would be appreciated, including links to any discussions on this topic.  ( Read more... )

you're assuming that there would be survivors,
first the casualty rate from the basic fall out, but the angels despise humanity, if they won it would be simple for them to scour the planet clean - the easiest way to achieve heaven on earth is to kill everyone that way any who aren't destined for hell go where they're supposed to....
it's an obvious and terrible answer -
also imagine the fall out itself - it would almost certainly blot out the sun much in the way a nuclear disaster would, then you get the poisoning of the earth, the water, etc
you can't have a cataclysm like that without those kinds of reactions unfortunately
which would lead at best to another ice age and humanity lost to the cold to be dug up umpteen million years by now by paleontologists and stuck together wrong....
that ultimately was why dean couldn't say yes to michael, there really was that much at stake

Thanks so much for the input! (I *really* need to re-watch S.04 & S.05)
So you're saying that when Dean was contemplating saying yes, he was actually giving up on the whole world? Damn.

But I need Dean to survive so...
Post-apocalyptic, barren wasteland. Sounds like heaven to me! (if I were a douche-angel.) ^_^

I was going to leave this here but something occurred to me that might interest you
first of all - because the whole thing came about because dean brought sam back you have access to the title The Man who sold the world which Dean would totally appreciate

and 2, who says the wasteland has to be barren
when Anna's grace was cut out and landed it grew a tree, so it's entirely possible that it's a world of heavy heavy vegetation that pretty much destroyed everything made by man, that there are patches of highway left but even they are cracked with great trees sprouting from them
and there is no reason for the trees not to be dangerous in their own right,

also how long goes from dean saying yes to dean waking up in the wasteland... there could be more than enough time for animal life to catch up, a sort of Eden that is incredibly dangerous,
just thinking

interesting question. I think dean clearly thought that while there would be terrible casualities, that humanity had more hope of surviving under a post-apocalyptic angelic reign than under Lucifer. of course one needs to speculate as to whether god would've actively engaged to protect humanity at any point.

So you think that the angels would have taken control of the remaining humans? Becoming like a new monarchy over human-kind?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just trying to see if there is any consensus among fans of what life would be life for survivors if Michael defeated Lucifer.
