Egad.

It had been something entirely different, her experience in the school. Voile had spent more than enough time contemplating how things would proceed, how they could proceed, and how they should. Those were three very different ideals, executed by three different types of people for different reasons. Those with the never-ending possibilities and theories opened their minds to all potential situations and predicaments. Those who were brash and capable of taking the initiative rushed head first into battle -- and not surprisingly, a few lost their precious appendages. And those who were logical and analytical to a point made the tactical maneuvres.

Aside from heart, from feelings, from tenderness, and from care, Voile favoured logic above all other things. Her ability to judge people and her ability to determine the truth from the lies set her apart and gave her the advantage. In a battle of wits when it came down to the bare structure of a person, she was a worthy opponent. When it came to worldly things, however, she was too easily stamped out and far too easily influenced.

That was precisely what Cyrus had done. He had charmed her with words and ideas. He had charmed her with the oh-so-dramatic flicks of his wrist and the proud stride in which he carried himself, the smooth gait, the confidence he exuded, and his overall persona. It was so impressionable that the longer she stayed around it, the more she saw herself change, the more she felt it, and the more she longed to push herself into denial. These were not simple things to talk about either. From an empathetic creature who was more or less one-sidedly confined to her obligations as a Gardevoir, Voile felt restrained. Restrained, chained, and a captive of her own species.

It was when she felt it tug upon her heart most of all that she felt it was well within her right and her own personal safety that she was to go. She had seen precisely what she'd wanted to see. She had experienced it all. She would hastily turn away from it, with no regrets, with no remorse, and she believed with every aching pounding of her heart that she would never once stop to look back. That temptation of all things was to be trampled upon and destroyed.

And most of all, she had acquired precisely what she'd wanted: the ability to take on a human form.

Leafy hands drew over the door and for just a moment, her expression softened. She had told Mint she would inform when she'd decided to return to Lilycove. Yet she'd gone so far as to break the implied promise. Was it the same as a lie? Yes. Perhaps to some degree it was. She was tormented by the thought. If Mint never forgave her, then perhaps it was all for the better. How could Voile grow to care for any other without first taking care of herself? How could she ever truly focus, truly concentrate when the emotions of the institution sat within her?

The simple answer was that she couldn't.

Voile turned from the door, eyed the quiet corridor and as quietly as she had slipped in, the Gardevoir made her way out into the night. As her eyes met the blackened sky, she realised how very apparent it was that she had loved and longed for home much longer than she'd anticipated or willingly admitted. Yes, this was all for the better she would constantly tell herself.

I'll be coming home to you. I want to be at your side the way I feel I need to be.

Behind her, the empty hallway, and a door kept company by an endearing card, words written in the same script she always used for her lecture notes.

"Headmaster,

I'll be returning home.
You've my infinite gratitude for your consideration, your kindness, and your respect.
I do wish you the very best.

Sincerest Regards,
Voile"

[OoC: Long story short, Voile is headed back to Lilycove (not permanently). Yes, of course there's room for plot here if you're interested. Otherwise, she'll come back when she comes back. This is entirely for her character development, and anyone who potentially feels they should be a part of it.]
