After how long it had taken Eden to slog up to the compound, there was no way she was going straight out into it again. She's sitting curled up in the big armchair in the kitchen, with a cup of coffee on one arm and a plate of toast on the other, reading another one of the books about the Easy boys. She's always careful to check the index for how much there is on Babe, because she's pretty sure there are some things he'd prefer to tell her about himself.

She looks up when Alice walks into the kitchen.
To her credit, she doesn't laugh.

"Shut up or I'll come over there and drip on you," she said, and went to get some coffee.

Alice took a long gulp of a mug of steaming hot coffee before she replied. One sip and she already was starting to feel a little warmer, albeit from the inside out.

"Fuck karma," she said. "That never got anyone anything except a hangover. How was your New Year?"
