Why religion makes sense

So I was reading a neat article about praying clowns, it struck me that I wished more people of faith practiced the basic tenet of love that religions (and, indeed, many human worldviews) share. I tend to focus my love toward animals, as I'm sure you've noticed. I'm pretty sure I like them more than I like people.

And I liked your metaphor there at the end.

I agree. Most fundamentalist Christians are long on faith (it's easy: just say you believe, and you're saved!) and hope (of a heavenly reward) but way short on love because the love Jesus taught is hard. Turn the other cheek, give up your coat, be the Good Samaritan... yep, way too hard for the pre-packaged Xtianity of those big new churches with congregations of 10,000 and a rock group at every service.
