I was wondering what game to pick up next, kinda hard to dip back into the market after a year-and-a-half absence.

Agricola is very expensive £45.00. My fav of the year is stone age (2 to 4 players good with two), Rio Grande. With your Sci Fi interests think about Race for The Galaxy (2 - 4 players) very good 2 player game (£21) a card game akin to San Juan, and finally Galaxy Trucker (£50) 2 - 4 players again very playable as a 2 player game, through four rounds you build spaceships from bits left in a warehouse and then send theminto space to trade and avoid asteroids etc. This game has your name written all over and is worth it even though it is £50.
