I'm really disappointed that the first one I saw is the US trailer. The terrible editing and the absolutely daffy music choice-- it's generic RE film #6. The full international trailer (the one at the very bottom), sells what the film should be much better with it's sweeping vocals and haunting orchestra, even the hokey "My Name is Alice" bit looses some of its cringy "again?" feel.

But God, am I bummed about this apparent decision regarding Isaacs. He was dead. He had his arc. His story was told. But for some reason he had to be brought back. Had to be shoehorned in, when you have a villain you've been building for three films now. And somehow, I doubt very much the build up will be worth the payoff, given the franchise's history.

It's saddening... and tiring, frankly.

Each film feels like it's actually supposed to exist in a vacuum separate from the ones before it - save for maybe a few moments at the very beginning. Unfortunately, due to a lack of writing ability on Anderson's part, or bad editing, or both, none of them can really carry an individual film. You only care about them for the connections to the previous film, and the setup for the second. Especially Retribution, which was the filliest filler that ever filled. (Now with the Red Queen switcheroo, if it holds true, I honestly can't really point to one thing that happened in that film that matters. It could have... just not happened... and I think the story would more or less be exactly the same.)

Honestly, seeing the casting choices for FC, I wouldn't be surprised if at least a part of Glen's return is because of GoT. All of the new cast are more or less "unknowns" here in the states, but have really big followings in other countries. Hell, they cast a youtube star for a cameo.
