I think most kids harbor a secret dream to be able to speak to animals.  For me, this fantasy wish has persisted my whole life, and I honestly think I really believed I could communicate with my dog.  Right now all I want to do is ask him if he's in pain, and tell him that the pain will go away.  The vet told us that animals cannot perceive that
