people generally do have what they need. we're just trying to get what we WANT - that's the problem.

I can't help you much, but I personally liked this online logic book for learning symbolic logic. If you have any questions about it, I'd be glad to help. I dig that stuff.

I appreciate the link; it seems moderately helpful. To get credit at my university, I'm forced to pay carnegie-mellon 60 bucks to use their online logic course, despite the fact that I've seen several others that teach in a much more commonsense manner.

The only real problems I've had so far have been deriving rationales for rules that seem blatantly obvious to me; for some reason using simple introduction and extraction rules seems counterintuitive.
