Glad you realized... I was married to an asshole like your former self for 16 years. But he's never realized what a truly horrible person he is... even worse, the devastating emotional and psychological effect his behavior had on me and is starting to inflict on our children. It's been three years since I left and am just now starting to understand how insidious his sick controlling, demeaning treatment was... psychological, mental, emotional rape! He robbed me of me and almost my life!

A little advice...You will be amazed how your life and relationships will be so much more enjoyable when your focus is pleasing and making someone else happy... when you do that (assuming they're not an asshole), they will genuinely, willingly want to reciprocate and make you happy. When you make someone feel good about them self, make them feel important and special they won't want to leave you!

Good luck with your new self... oh, and don't forget, remind yourself everyday... you are special too!
