FAQ

May 02, 2007 17:14

After getting so many friends in only a couple of weeks and because I figured it would be much better to archive all the information and question concerning the graphics and overrides I post in this journal, I decided to finally post a FAQ section. Aditional on this post, easy copy/paste codes to promote this journal.

I'm curious, before I decide to snag one of your overrides. is there any way to move the sidebar so that it's horizontal above the entries? the current overrides I have do that, but I'm not sure about the coding and I wouldn't want to try for fear of, well, royally screwing it up. XD;

thanks for any help!

I saw your journal and I kinda know what you mean and I suppose it's possible since the person who created your overrides did it. The thing is, I can't edit it like that and take full credit cause I would be stealing her idea and somewhat her work since I don't know how to do it and I'd have to look at her codes for guidelines. The only way you can actually use that way with one of my overrides is if you edit it yourself (cause I'm sorry, but I certainly won't) and credit both of us in your info.

If you have any other question, don't hesitate on asking.

I'm wondering how to add a background image? Since mine is just plain HTML colours. I tried looking through the code, but I'm still not sure how...

(Btw, I credited you for the coding. I was still re-doing my userinfo the other time that's why the link back here wasn't up yet)

I guess I shall add that question to the FAQ next time I edit it ^.^
So, to add a background image I present you with two codes, just paste either you would like to use in the body section (normally the first section of the overrides):

Tiled images:

background-image: url('URL OF YOUR IMAGE HERE');
background-repeat: yes;
background-position: fixed;

Big background image:

background-image: url('URL OF YOUR IMAGE HERE');
background-position: left; <--- this can be chaged to top, right, left top, etc. Where you need it to be.
background-repeat: no;
background-position: fixed;

These codes should work, if you happen to have trouble with them, don't hesitate on asking again.

>>Can I change the colors/add a header/edit the overrides?
Yes, you can do minor and major alterations to the overrides, as long as you don't remove the credit at the top of the overrides and also credit me on your userinfo or link back to this journal anywhere in your journal.

I actually placed that information on the FAQ section. please next time make sure to read ALL the entry and the comments before asking any question, because it's a waste of time for me to reply to everyone specially if it's been said before.

Hi there,
I'm using a slightly customised version of the pink layout here http://resplandor.livejournal.com/1876.html
and I just wondered how I could get the writing to show underneath the profile picture in the sidebox. My old layout used to say my username and name underneath the picture. I can't see that your codes over ride it anywhere???

Thanks x

Sorry, I just figured out how to fix it, so I'm sorry to have bothered you.
I guess sometimes you can't see for looking!

I love the layout though, so thank you again for posting it :D

Hello there!

I am using your most recent layout. I've read the FAQ and I see that there is a how-to on hiding userpics; however, I am wondering if there is a way that I can see the userpics of my friends & communities I'm in on my friends page. :)

I went to your LJ and I saw your problem but it's really not CSS related. I saw the CSS code with a tool I have on Firefox and the code to see the friend's userpics it's there (It's also the same stylesheet I'm using on my LJ and I can see the icons correctly) so you might want to check any selections you pick on the presentation tab before pasting the overrides.

I also looked at the journal of the others that had took the codes and it seems like you're the only one having this problem. Sorry I couldn't help you but it's really up to you to fix it.

Darn, I can't seem to find or fix the problem. :(

Oh well, thanks anyway.

Are you sure your presentation settings are set like this?

» Show user picture icons with each of your entries? --> yes.
» Set the user picture position for each entry --> right.
» Use community userpics instead of poster's userpic. --> no.

I guess those are the only options you could have change that affected the userpic in your friend's page. Please let me know if the problem persists or if that fixed it.
