man I miss game.

I have a serious lack of game in my life right now, and unfortunately it doesn't look to get better any time soon. I still have the urge to create characters, but now most of the characters I create will never see the light of day. Some of this is being channeled into writing what would be character fic, if I were running those characters in a ( Read more... )

You have no idea how much I sympathize with you. I work in a gaming store, which means that I'm constantly talking about the pros and cons and "this one time, my character/friend's character/the entire gaming group" stories for all sorts of systems, but since I don't have a regular schedule and I work nights, I never get to actually game. I spend my 2 hour bus ride to work every day thinking up characters that I don't get to use and it's driving me nuts. I GMed a pick-up for Exalted once because I wanted game so badly, and it seems like the only way I'm going to get any is my running one-shots sporadically myself, but that's not the gaming experience I want.

Any chance you'd want to run/be in an online game of some sort? Because that seems like the only way a group could work long enough to do that Exalted game, and if you do decide to run it, DIBS.

are you thinking IM, or are you thinking message forum? If it's the latter, I can probably buy us a guild on GaiaOnline so we can have a private forum. Plus Gaia posts have a dice-rolling function.

Want an obsessive player who will write fic and cling to a game for years? *raises hand* Second Indy's run-something-online thing. Google wave?

I third this! Online isn't as good at tabletop, but it's a lot better than nothing.

Second Indy's sympathy. I have a couple of concepts I've been toying with, but I steadfastly refuse to stat them out or put them into a system because I know from Ireland that I will DRIVE MYSELF CRAZY. Particularly since I definatly won't be able to game for another few months, at least.

Online RPing can be tricky (I've had good stories come to a grinding halt when key players STOP POSTING EVER), but I'd certainly be up for giving it a shot.

My daily schedule has the solidity of liquefied fruit, so I doubt my ability to play an internet game. But I approve of the plans being brewed here. Lack of game makes life feel alot like purgatory. Instead of running around and 'living' multiples lives, I just sit on my ass and wait for a second death. ; )
