I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this entry, partly because I lived on Bedford Place in the early nineties, and well remember Pat-a-Cake, etc. But mainly because of the way you describe it all.
My ex-boss favours La Fourchette; I've always imagined it being rather like the restaurant that Frasier and Niles frequent - was it 'Le cigar volant'?
I forgot you were in the Co-op! I went to a few parties but I don't know anyone who lives there these days.
It's quite small and wooden-floored in La Fourchette, so an exuberant boss holding court would utterly dominate the whole place. Perhaps that's part of the attraction for him?
Have you been to their café in Church Road? Lovely cakes and coffee.
