I saw a statistic today that Madonna is the most successful (as far as record sales go) female recording artist of all time, according to the Guinness Book of World Records (though some say it's Celine Dion). This led me to wonder: what about the most successful male recording artist

I am surprised that he accomplished this without having a lot of material (old or new) out there. I looked at Wikipedia and he only had 10 studio albums. I can say that I do not own any of them. If it were U2 or Paul and Storm that would be another matter.

I think Michael Jackson and the Beatles should count together, because he owns them. At least count the stuff the Beatles have sold since he bought them!
