I can't believe they didn't add the original ending of American Beauty?

Actually, I can believe it b/c it seems like American movie makers always pander to the whole "let's make this ending hopeful" Like they'll take the movie to a certain point and then bail. Maybe I'm just venting b/c that's what I thought the movie implied. I mean, if you think about it, the ending of them getting tried makes sense. There's that one scene where the daughter is being filmed by Joaquain (can't remember his movie name) and he asks if she'd like to see her father killed and she says yes. Then, it's only after the camera is turned off that she says she's kidding. Also, it would be ironic because they're the only 2 likeable characters in the movie and the ending would be even more poignant. I don't know. I guess I would've been upset if they'd ended it that way. I still did wonder though who would be accused. Most everyone had a motive and a weapon. End of my rant
