Back for Seconds

Second entry in two days... something is telling me this would be a lot easier to keep filling out if my life were more exciting, chock full of rich and exotic details that I would be thrilled to have on display for all the internet to see. Then again, most everybody says that here at college - my life's boring, I don't get out enough, I'm such a ( Read more... )

Yes, Jack, I do on occasion read your journal... anonymous September 8 2002, 11:29:46 UTC
...and I just have to commend you on this particular rant. All the people who thought GV was "the focus of boredom in the modern world," to adapt a phrase of the greatest president of the 20th century, need to see where I am right now. Lewisburg, PA. You spoke of places where the only attraction w/i 10 miles is a three-screen movie theatre? Well here, it only has one screen, which is usually playing crap since an English professor just bought it and thinks that people in central PA actually care about the latest "tasteful" indie flick. (Or, when the academic gives in to the evils of capitalism, it's playing a perhaps-crappier college-HS flick on the order of "Dude, where's my car?")

But I'll confess... last weekend it was showing "My big fat Greek wedding," and I saw it, and I enjoyed it...

Anyway, more power to you, man. Keep the half-formed rants coming. ("What do you people need for excitement, a nuclear explosion?" Brilliant.) And now, you have to guess who this is.

The town you grew up in, Jack, was one in which the only three things to do were to drink, get high, or have sex.
I found this out after moving away, having done none of those three things.

Yeah, there were a lot of malls, a lot of movie theaters. Yeah, we were close to philly. But there wasn't much to do. Mostly because no one wanted to do it.

For myself, I filled the time with writing, movies, and gaming.

Which, ironically enough, I still do. But I have added drinking and sex to the mix at least.

Oh, by the way.... I'm reading your journal from the beginning. Nice way to see what's gone on in your life.
