[So what, exactly, has Alex been doing since his arrival here? Aside from that little mishap known as an experiment, not much, frankly. Today, however, one may run into the blue-haired Adept at the library, reading through... a rather large stack of books. In particular, he seems to be reading up on the legends and mythology of various worlds ( Read more... )

[Robert has wanted to talk about Terra, but this question seems more irritating to him than anything else.]

What sort of use would that kind of drivel be to anybody? "Legends" are simply the result of fallible people recording what was not properly annotated in the history databases. [Smug, much? Though, where Robert comes from, legends are pretty much invariably false or exaggerated to ridiculous proportions anyway, so his disdainfulness isn't entirely poorly placed. Still, probably not the best response to start off with - but that's Robert for you.

He pauses a minute before adding the next part, written in a slightly... nicer?... fashion.]

Should you wish to hear some real history of Terra, though, I would be more than willing to oblige.

That may be the case in your world, but I assure you that this kind of drivel does hold some truth in others. [Smug, yes, but that hardly seems to faze Alex. It's not too unlikely that there would be a world where legends are exactly that, but Weyard is certainly not such a world. He can attest to that himself.]

It may not be a legend, but I would nonetheless be honored to hear about the history of this Terra. [He's not exactly limiting himself to historically grounded folktales, after all.]

[A beat. Robert hadn't considered that - frankly, the idea seemed preposterous up until that very moment, but then he remembered just exactly what Luceti had been so far. Ugh. Still, Robert isn't too quick to jump on the believer bandwagon just yet, but the poignant reminder of Helios casting magic right in front of him is enough to sober him a little. If that was possible - well, a lot of things were suddenly possible as well. Not something Robert really wanted to consider, but...] I see... very well, then. I suppose I can at least commend you for wishing to gather information.

[Robert smiles to himself, not like Alex can see it, at the next part.] Terra has a very fascinating history, stretching back through a few centuries. From what I remember of my history classes, the first major changes in Terran infrastructure and technology occurred as a result of the Great Cleansing, which was a worldwide technological effort to battle the runaway effects of anthropogenic climate change. The problem of climate change and wholesale ( ... )
