but hey i do agree with you on the whole observation. i had a conversation with someone about it the day before. one day someone is praying "praise our Lord" and the next thing you know they're macking someone or getting drunk/high.

i'm catholic. i'll admit that i'm not a dedicated catholic. i wasn't raised on the religion. my boyfriend is a jehovah witness, and i know that people who follow that religion are really dedicated. it's like a lifestyle.

Christianity: it's helped me through tough times. it's nice believing that even though everyone on earth will turn their backs to you, someone up there will always help you.
but i'm not a hardcore Christian fanatic. that's just stupid, blind faith. there's some things that make me question Christianity - the truth behind the Old Testament..but really it doesnt matter if it's all false to me, a lot of the stuff in the Bible shouldn't be taken literally. it should represent something else in your life that helps you grow as a human being.

I made that observation YEARS ago and it still apparently is true.

The most common one would probably be breaking any sort of "decrees" on humility or charity; I know a girl who "loves god" and she shops still she fucking drops and is a selfish lil girl.

Buddhism - you figure shit out yourself via meditating and it's also a philosophy on life but don't take my word for it.

let's say i take up buddhism and i meditate and learn all about it but i don't get enlightened or i don't feel any different afterwards...

It depends upon how you see it:

If you don't feel truly enlightened, you could possibly be doing it wrong or not hard enough OR something's wrong with how you were taught the values and stuff.
