Perhaps I am just being a paranoid liberal but I think there is a good possibility that we have a draft in our future and today I decided it was time to take some action. I'm afraid there's greed, corruption and arrogance in full force everywhere. Go to France by all means but for some other reason, like the it would kick ass.

Wise move. I'm an American living elsewhere. The bigotry is differently directed here, the religious fundamentalism is replaced by classism and nationalism. Most people have a tendency to be narrow-minded anywhere; it's really cool that the two of you don't.

IMHO, going Elsewhere is not an escape, it's the desire to see something different, and good luck with it!
