that's excellent man! i'm so happy to hear about this. i have every bit of faith that this is a sign of the great ammount of success you will have in future endeavours. typically, things move upwards from the first day, in fact, you usually hear nothing but horror stories from first days. if the kids are going to test you, they almost always do it then, right off the bat. not to say that they won't in the future, but i think its clear that you're a natural in the classroom, way to go!
Coming from a long line of teachers in my family....I know that few things are as rewarding as the feeling that you actually got students to learn and enjoy it at the same time.

Also this is still a long ways off but i will be in Gboro for a few days in march for SETC, we should chill for a bit :)
good for you-- my first couple of classroom experiences were terrible! it may be that you have a really great group of kids there, but it sounds like you also just had a fantastic lesson and were well prepared. you can probably expect to struggle--a LOT--but it's probably also a really good sign that the first lesson went well; keep doing what you're doing.
