Moving!

Aug 16, 2007 12:05

So ummm... I'm moving, yet again. But this time its to someplace SAFE. A haven where I will not have to keep my vibrators in an armored safe. A place where kitties can roam in a nice, spacious area. And my roommate is the fabulous as_mona_says. Yes. We have a household policy of liberalism, Beatlemania, recycling and free love. Seriously. Its going to be so ( Read more... )

Yay!

Omg. Sewing. I LOVE sewing! I have a sewing machine too! Let's turn our third room into a fucking crazy creative outlet for all out artistic abilities! Writing, photography, sewing, pot brownies... amazing!

Let's go job hunting when I get there. We can spend a day doing that or something, I dunno.

Yes yes, we can stick a bed all the way in the corner or something, just in case we have a guest.. but we'll put tables in there and fill it with art and shit to get our creative juices flowing! This could be amazing!

Why are we such hippies? The world may never know.

Hi I'm Diana, Glexi's first friend from Phoenix, I think. Anyway, I know you're moving in with her and I wanted to plan a little welcome party for her. What do you think?

My email address is dnice70@gmail.com, email me so we can figure things out without Ms. Glexi knowing all the details as well :)

i got a sewing maching as a wedding gift, and have no clue how to use it. i really want to learn, i think sewing would be something i can really get into!

My outlets are scrapbooking (can you say addiction?) and photography (the act of taking the photo. i have no idea how to develop!)

Start with something easy... like scrunchies. Or maybe even a baby blanket. Those can be made pretty simply :)

Congrats on the new place and cool roommate. I've never had to have a roommate (other than my husband) but I've had friends who've had nightmare roommate situations, and boy do they suck! Sounds like you 2 will be cool together. So, how long have you been at your current job? And, if you don't mind telling me, what don't you like about it? I don't have many women I can discuss this stuff with. I'd appreciate your insight.

I've been at my current job for about a year and some months now. Umm... I guess what I don't like about it is how disorganized things are. Its a mess. The Chef de cuisine (a woman) is constantly talking behind my back. And I'm sure you know, the ONLY way to learn what you're doing wrong in a kitchen is for the chef to tell YOU. She's older. She gossips incessantly. I don't respect her. Mainly because, in over a year, I've never seen her set foot on the line. Its for sooo many reasons that I want to leave. I'm not learning anymore. Just becoming resentful. Also. And yes, I don't have many women to discuss my career with either. Feel free to rant or just talk whenever you'd like :)

That's too bad. It sounds a bit like my last job (I tried to quit after 3 weeks, pastry chef begged me to stay cause she couldn't find anyone to work there, wound up leaving for good after a month and a half). That place was the biggest nightmare in the world. I don't know how they function on a daily basis. I will never stay at a place longer than a day if it is as bad as that place. I don't like gossip and people talking behind other people's backs. I don't do it to people and I don't want them doing it to me. I also cannot tolerate drama. I take criticism well and long to be told how I am doing on the job. It takes a good manager, or chef, to take you aside and let you know how you're doing, what you should be doing differently, what you are doing well. And, I am sure it is more common than not for good cooks to be lousy managers of people. Have you spoken to the chef de cuisine? Or is it just a lost cause at this point? You've been there over a year, maybe it is time for you to move on? I know that finding a new job ( ... )
