You made it farther than I did in Lord of the Rings! If it hadn't been a class assignment, The Council of Elron in Fellowship would have made me quit.

I have a million recommendations, but I'll start with Robin McKinley. She's wonderful. Deerskin is my favorite, its a sort of old school fairy tale, dark but beautiful, but all her books are good. The Hero and the Crown/The Blue Sword duet is a sort of classical fantasy epic with some strong female heroines. Sunshine which is a very fun book about vampires and witches and may be a nice palatte cleanser to wash the taste of all the Twilight hype out of your mouth. ;)
